isabel marant ss12

Earlier today at the Isabel Marant show in Saint Germain..these are my favorite looks right off the bat. The black crochet dress, military jacket, and pink denim dress very much need to be in closer reach than six months of waiting away. I should say here that it was totally unreal to be able to attend the show. It takes about a five second scroll down my blog or a quick glance at the inspiration board above my desk to tell that I’m infatuated with her designs and I might even say general outlook on life. This collection smacked of wearability with a sometime athletic touch, perfect for the girl who slouches around during the day in tried-and-true pieces but turns it way up at night in microscopic layered minidresses and chained stilettos. I made the walk over to her store on Rue Jacob after the show and a fresh off the runway Izabel Goulart was already having her purchases rung up at the counter. Efficient.

last day in london
(Woodford & Co. shearling vest, All Saints quilted leather jacket, American Apparel skirt, Proenza Schouler bag, Prada suede sandals)
I love London a weird amount. Between the food, the people, the shopping and markets, the park roaming, the outerwear utilization..I’m sad every time I leave and am thinking I need to think up more excuses to make the trek. This outfit was from the last day there, it was really cold for my California blood but I was cozy in layers. The vest is as beautiful as it is slightly scary to wear in all of it’s white suede glory, the rest is just black staples.

Spent the last few hours of daylight before heading to Biarritz at 6 the next morning getting coffee at my new favorite, Clerkenwell’s St. Ali (may have loitered there every other day), and then shopping along Brick Lane. Experienced a minor miracle when I found a jacket that I’d regrettably decided not to buy back in June still sitting there waiting for me. The shop owner remembered me and my vacillating and spent a good ten minutes reminiscing loudly about our previous interaction. Slightly embarrassing, mostly entertaining.
Now I’m here in Paris where the weather is in the eighties and I ran around in denim shorts all day, again. We’re switching off from city to city staying in hotels and renting apartments (Airbnb! but I must say it’s all downhill from our week at the Mandarin Oriental.. um I have to tell you about the unreal spa treatment I got there) and our place here in Montmartre is perfect. I was just served a home cooked meal by the boyfriend, no dress code or questionable menu options. Perfect.
happy anniversary mulberry

(Zara blouse, 3.1 Phillip Lim leather shorts, Rag & Bone Newbury boots, Proenza Schouler PS11..same day as these shots but I switched the accessories out during a quick run back to the hotel)
At Mulberry‘s 40th anniversary party during NYFW – they always have the best events. I think it’s because they know how to make every last detail a little bit special. Here it was a combination of a balloon artist (see custom green wings), Andrew DJing, Kasabian taking the stage, spring break in Mexico drink options of Corona and strawberry margaritas, curly straws, a lit up dance stage that Anna Dello Russo took to immediately upon her arrival, Alexander Skarsgard holding court in a seemingly designated corner all night, and Bayswater balloons bumping around in the wind everywhere you turned. The music was loud enough that the cops ended up coming – they made a beeline for Andrew as soon as they stepped foot on the rooftop. Somehow he’s always the epicenter of public disturbances without even trying.
