A (poorly documented) Saturday night

The perfect Saturday, complete with thrifting and shopping downtown with the boyfriend, lying about at the beach, meeting up with some friends for a superlate lunch, briefly wandering around in DSW and Target, dying the bf’s brother’s hair platinum blonde, and piling into a cab to meet more friends for some mild debauchery. Somehow I ended up hanging out with 9 boys, I really need to make more girlfriends since most of mine moved away. Will work on that.

No full outfit shots, so sad because I wore this vintage dress for the first time and wanted to capture it! It has this adorable mini circle skirt, tie belt, and sheer upper, all in a unexpected thick floral brocade-like fabric, which are relatively undetectable here but oh well..the boyfriend’s brother took these shots randomly so they’ll have to do. Excuse the gum-chewing and relatively dazed look, it was pretty far into the night…not that the photos don’t make that obvious enough haha. It ended being a pretty Richter time…

Dress and bag, vintage…worn with black opaques and my electric blue satin wedges from Nine west.

Good dirty and bad dirty

I was re-acquainting myself with Kirsten Dunst’s style of semi-yore when going through said super-old inspiration folder, and it made me realize how apathetic I am towards her look these days. I mean, this just might have to do with her current whereabouts, but it made me miss the days when she hadn’t fully grunged herself out yet. She’s always had sort of an unkempt French chic thing going on (well, more than any other Hollywood It Girl), and her outfits were always so simple yet alluring. She makes that canvas APC bag look just as good as her Chanel, and I loved the fact that she didn’t wear trendy sweat pants back when it was all about Juicy, she instead had actual elastic ankle ones and made them look cooler. Sigh. Hopefully she’ll get better soon.

Rodarte Love

Rodarte presented ethereal taken to a whole new level, complete with macabre accessories and tights that looked to be made of apocalyptic spiderwebs. Awesome. If I owned just one of these dresses it might render the rest of my wardrobe completely unnecessary, I’m thinking. And the high fashion/borderline fetish footwear trend lives on.

Of course, any self-respecting Japanese horror film inspired collection wouldn’t dare go without eyeball rings and fingerless leather bandage wrap studded gauntlet gloves…

Margherita Missoni at the Opening Ceremony party in what looks like something Christopher Kane would design for American Apparel, I’ll post the designer as soon as I find out.

Alexander Wang FW08

My favorites from Alexander Wang’s show this week..I first fell in love with him after I read an article in Vogue about how he found early inspiration in the skater kids of San Francisco, and proceeded to promptly become infatuated with his high waisted skirts, vest dresses, and the most perfect basics imaginable, which were all styled to perfection to heighten desirability to intolerable levels.

I was beyond excited to witness the fruition of the Wang and Wasson teamup and so happy to find it was worth all the hype. Tough and boyish, the clothes channeled raw sexuality with daring cuts and the clashing of beaten up denim and leather and fluid knits. I’m not even minding the runny tights – in conjunction with oversized zipper boots, scrunchy black legwarmers, almost grim-looking skull caps, and the most perfect long vest ever created, it all blends into one gloriously cohesive collection that I kind of want one of everything from. It seems Erin has also been at work styling his website imagery, as everything below also rather screams the uncomplicated mussed-up cool that has become her signature.

PS if you’re a size 7 and love the boots in the last photo as much as I do, I’m selling what is pretty much the exact same pair in my store here. And I will be madly jealous of whoever wins them because they were just a smidge too small for me and I so NEEDED them to fit! Much woe.
