Something about the short poufy skirt is very functional in my wardrobe – I think it’s safe to say I prefer layering on top to balance out all that girliness. Here I experimented with a trusty navy blazer and another men’s Forever 21 purchase, this oversized striped cardigan that has proven quite handy on freezing Southwest flights.

If you are wondering why my store is currently empty, big changes are on the way and I’ve been gathering crazy good stuff over the past few weeks in preparation. I’m forecasting a reopening late next week so stay tuned.

Skirt and cardigan, Forever 21. Shirt, Lux. Blazer, secondhand. Boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs.

I feel like I’ve been wearing a disproportionate amount of Forever 21 lately. Who would have thought that they would make the perfect striped shirt? Though I did have to dig around for it in the men’s section. I’m not sure what I would call this look – nautical bondage prom? Hmm.

Sunglasses, top, and skirt, Forever 21. Bag, vintage. Heels, Dollhouse.

One of my favorite Forever 21 dresses..I think I bought it last summer. What do you think, with or without the braided belt? I opted for without but still sort of like the look with it.

Dress, Forever 21. Belt, American Apparel. Bag, vintage. Cross necklace, Wet Seal from about five years ago. Heels, Marni.

4th

I figure the 4th of July is perhaps the best possible day to dress kind of trashily – everyone’s at least buzzed if not fully intoxicated, the humidity levels are high enough to induce wavy hair, and people don’t seem to bother putting on much more than a swimsuit around here anyway. I spent the day hanging out with some friends I haven’t seen in way too long and around a hundred gay men at a (catered!) house party, who promptly decided that I looked like a Bond girl in my romper and proceeded to refer to me as such for the rest of the time. This was further assisted by a neon watergun I tucked into my belt later. My boyfriend and I took a break to grab some lunch/air and found this nice baby blue wall to abuse. The fireworks later on were so abnormally awesome that I almost didn’t mind stepping in vomit. Sick. SO glad I was wearing heels for that one.

Romper, Forever 21. Belt, vintage. Heels, Dollhouse. Sunglasses, Ray-ban.
