Kristin and I headed to yet another sleepy coastal town together to run around in clothes the likes of which had apparently had never been seen there before, from all the looks and questions we fielded. Though it could have been the lying around all over the place that did it. We videotaped bits and pieces but being the video under-estimator that I am, didn’t really put much effort into it. Let us know what you guys think and we’ll put Kristin’s video editing skills to better use next time. Perhaps with some shots of the ridiculous pile of clothing that is created when our closets mate.

I don’t even know where to start with citing where everything’s from…but of note or unseen before:

  • Kristin’s long john drop crotch cutoffs (something I never thought I would type)
  • RVCA beanie that she diligently studded herself
  • DIP black cutout dress
  • plaid skinnies from uhm Hot Topic
  • Norwegian wood lace leggings that Angie gave me
  • a soft-as-vintage hoodie that Monrow sent me among some other designs I can’t wait to show you guys
  • my disgusting acid wash lattice cutout vintage jeans that I haven’t worn for a while

There’s something to be said about the military blazer – the things never really go out of style. If you look closely in the first shot you can see my behind the ear drapey gold earring, potentially one of the coolest things I own but really annoying to try to take a picture of. We finally found a spot without the omnipresent looming palm trees..while it’s hardly cold here yet, it was rather novel to crunch around on red leaves while plaintively asking Colin if I was stepping in poison oak. And hey since he does way more for me than just stave off nature-inflicted rashes and this blog would be utter crap without him, here’s a huge thank you to my love and a pretty sweet photo I took of him in his RVCA jacket while we were waiting to be seated for sushi. I feel like whenever I mention food it’s sushi, but we really do eat it that much. I only worry about mercury poisoning sporadically.

One of my favorite little pleasures is to pore over Danny Roberts’ illustrations at his blog – he is so talented with a style that blends seamlessly with fashion..it’s only a matter of time before Lula magazine discovers him and never lets him go. I was lucky enough to have him illustrate one of my photos back in July, and I let out a little yelp when he emailed me with another this weekend. Thank you so much Danny!

Make sure to check out the prints he has available for purchase..just may have to save up for The Girls in Glasses. How sick would that be over my old man couch?

Colin and I have been having trouble shooting outside cause we end up screwing around all day and forgetting that the light starts to suck so early these days. So we took the party indoors and onto the ancient leather couch my parents kindly handed down to me. This thing made it all the way to California from Hong Kong in the ’80s. I’ve always felt it belonged in a velvet draped library with an elderly man in an elbow patch blazer nonchalantly smoking a pipe and peering out through a monocle, but today it’ll have to make do with my new favorite object, this metal netted crop top. Part mithril vest and part fisherman’s net, it makes me inexplicably happy, especially with my crazy old lady leopard print jacket.
