The cafe that doubles as my second home when I’m at my place in Silverlake. Mostly because I still don’t have internet there. Or silverware, for that matter. This ruined Bryan‘s life a little bit when he was staying with me but we made a routine of lugging our laptops to LA Mill, him possibly multiple times a day (while I slept in..let me note that he sleeps about as much as a goldfish..but gives good post-lights out girltalk), to try and stay caught up on everything. Luckily they serve everything from breakfast and the best hot chocolate I’ve had outside of Italy to wine and some strangely varied dinner options. I can’t be the only one that gets suspicious when restaurants serve Japanese food alongside pasta and caesar salad…

Anyway, we took these these shots before sitting down to answer emails for 4 straight hours and after I painstakingly taught him how to focus with a DSLR. Wearing pretty much all of my current favorite pieces..I bought the jacket at Zara in Harajuku this summer. I’ve got the exact same one in black that they sold last winter and immediately grabbed this one when I recognized all the detailing. I love that it gets visibly more broken in with every wear.

(Zara dress, Jessica Simpson Dany platforms, Deadly Ponies bag, Whyred sunglasses, fashiontoast x Dannijo Deserver Cuff)

The Zara dress (wish I could have worn this to a concert in the ’70s..but the Meatpacking district will do) I wore as a top back in June and the beautiful bag that Liam from Deadly Ponies sent me a few weeks ago. And..the most forlorn of styrofoam cups. These shoes have taken a beating but I still love them..

(Therese Rawsthorne dress, vintage slip, Zara jacket, vintage bag, BCBG Mendel boots)

I’m not sure quite how to classify this Therese Rawsthorne piece..I definitely thought it was just a sheer long dress with a cool curved waist when I held it up off the rack at Black Box and even when I tried it on I must have stuck both legs through one hole (this was after enlisting both Colin’s and Anna’s help to figure out how to put it on) because I left convinced I had bought a dress..tried it on the next day and turns out it’s some sort of extreme sheer trousers hybrid. SWEET. I celebrated with a small jig. We took these shots during a couple free hours spent getting our last dose of New Zealand coffee (so good) and walking around aimlessly.

(Alexander Wang sweater, Zara trousers, Topshop boots, Theory bag, H&M angora beanie)

Shopping aggregate site Beso let me pick out a couple items for NYFW and one of the items I went for was this asymmetrical sweater with huge sleeves from La Garconne. I love the massively chunky knit and slashed neckline. Requisite Times Square shots..sorry. The place is complete sensory overload and kind of terrifies me but where else is it this blindingly bright no matter what time it is?

(Zara blazer and scarf as belt, Equipment silk shirt, Levi’s shorts, Jessica Simpson hat, Alexander Wang Diego bag, Topshop Andi boots)

I loved the idea of using a more substantial belt as a scarf at the Carin Wester show and the matchiness of the blues here somehow didn’t bother me…the scarf has sort of a mystical horse/star print that I love but haven’t quite figured out a proper way to display while being worn..slowly realizing that there really probably isn’t one. Not being a sarong person is depressing at times. I started the blog on a steady diet of denim shorts and blazers and it felt slightly relieving to return to…the shorts are the same as ever though they’ve frayed into pseudo-nothingness and one of the buttonholes ripped and lost all function a while ago. None of the Levi’s I try to replace them with ever manage to feel quite right though so I’m stuck with what I’ve got. Wore this in and around Bryant Park grabbing a bite to eat and stopping at Kinokuniya and Alice and Olivia, then later to the Imitation of Christ show.
