Striped long sleeve tops are one of those things I’m always looking for..I like that the material of this one is somewhere in between a tshirt and heavier knit. Also wearing the other half of my Topshop order – the chiffon tie Wisteria wedges that I jumped on when they restocked. So perfectly mummy-like..though I haven’t figured out the most ideal way to do them up yet.

30/05/2010, actually wearing jeans, alexander wang, ankle boots, vintage

(vintage poncho, American Apparel tshirt, Silence + Noise lace corset, gifted Soul Design Lab jeans, Jeffrey Campbell x Free People boots, Pamela Love double cage ring)

Heading to Hapa Izakaya for Japanese tapas before the show..feasted on amaebi, salmon sashimi, and miso eggplant. The consistently almost-raining weather gave me the perfect excuse to wear this blinding fringed poncho I thrifted last month. Suitable for a psychedelic Little Red Riding Hood, and me, apparently. I discovered after I brought it home with me that it’s fully reversible as well..the other side boasts semi-unattractive patchy black faux fur and brass toggles. Toggles are always good in my book.

Want to give an enormous shoutout and a lifetime’s worth of gratitude to Ms. Araki from Elle Girl Japan who gave me (I KNOW…I’m still in a confused daze over the whole thing) an Olympus EP2 camera at the photo shoot at my house last week. I tried to refuse but if you’ve ever tried this tactic against a Japanese person you know it’s most ineffective. It hasn’t left my side since..I’m still figuring out it’s endless options and settings but am already in passionate love with it. I took a picture of Kumo with it and the clarity was so extreme that it looked as if his fur was emerging all hedgehog-like through the LCD screen. Probably the most ideal camera for it’s joint portability and DSLR power..I’ve posted a few shots I’ve taken with it in the past week on genericdream.

ph. by my friend AK
(thrifted cut up boy’s thermal, Rumi x RVCA Triad Tank, UO frayed ruffle shorts, American Apparel sheer tights, BCBG boots, Alexander Wang bag, Grey Ant sunglasses, gifted Aldo nail polish)

Two ideas I’ve been fixated on lately: doubling up on whites (multiple dresser drawers of flimsy variations make this easy) and snug cropped knits (thermal waffle weave is close enough) to add some structure to oversized pieces. Haven’t seen anything in stores so I’ve cut up some of my own. Layered over the tank I designed for RVCA, which will finally be available to purchase soon..also in black of course.

On the agenda this week: photo shoot tomorrow with Elle Girl Japan, a trip to Vancouver with Colin for the launch of Obakki‘s f/w collection, and the release of my Forever 21 campaign that someone tweeted me a photo of from New York (thank you Jane!) while I was out last night..made for some pretty public hyperventilation. Really really surreal. Look for the campaign here in the US, Japan, and Korea. Thank you to my readers for all the support…never did I think…

Happy Sunday xx

(thrifted crochet dress, vintage slip, Lowluv necklace, Jimmy Choo x H&M ankle cowboy boots)

San Onofre State beach..a drive up from the city (I use this term loosely), embedded in a yawning expanse of Marine territory, and at the bottom of a long winding dirt road (thank God for Jeeps)..but so worth it once you’re there.

Still breaking in the shoes I first wore here but bikini and flip flops ensued.

In beautiful Julian..lately when the weekend hits all I feel like doing is driving far away, doesn’t matter in what direction. I wish Mexico was more of an option but the border just hasn’t been as..um safe lately. So it’s been a while since that’s happened. The fact that most of the town was closed for a reason we never found out and the unreal cutting wind made it feel even more remote..and the fact that we didn’t interact with a single person out there. I found the blazer a while ago at a thrift store..love that it has the boxy oversized cut of any other thrift store blazer but it takes on the softer feel of a top in this cream silk. Also stuck some crystals at the inner corners of my eyes with glue of questionable safety. Who else wants to hang out for a month or so at the barn/trailer compound? There’s even a defunct post office right by it to play in.
