Bodysuit, American Apparel. Pullover, vintage.
American Apparel sent me over some of their new styles, including this sick bodysuit that fits more perfectly than is logical. It’s made of an ’80s-reminiscent super thick and stretchy jersey and I’m now coveting it in the white version too.
This is kind of sad, but I hardly ever actually make it into the ocean even though it’s only a few blocks away – it’s pretty much always too frosty for me. I think the last time I was fully immersed was Labor Day last year when the combination of Indian summer heat and too much vodka made it seem like a more friendly option (also the day I discovered that the only time I will burn is when wearing a metallic bikini top all day that reflects the sunlight doubly onto my ribs..ouch). So no harm is done if my attire isn’t waterproof.
And is there anything cuter than little surfer kids in wetsuits with sun-bleached hair? Not really.
Thank you so so much for the comments on similar hair woes and the NY tips – I’m busy putting together a master list of things I want to make sure to check out and shopping in the vitamin aisle. But so sad about Topshop!
Leopard print jersey tunic, secondhand. Heels, Marni. Cuff, Forever 21.
Short absence = WE GOT KITTENS. I am in love and have decided that they could be the solution to never being sad again. So my boyfriend and I spent the weekend doing all kinds of un-Rumi things like waiting for hours at the vet and wondering what kind of cat shampoos to buy. They are so cute I might die. Pictures to come.
Equally exciting, we are going to New York! From September 3-8 we will get lost all over the place in the city I’ve always obsessively fantasized about living in. When is the NY Topshop opening again? Any ideas for where I need to spend ludicrously? Cannot wait.
On the other end up the life spectrum, I got what should have been the easiest haircut ever (cut an inch off, fix what I did to my bangs..thanksss…) but the remarkably incapable girl ended up cutting my bangs so short they are no longer visually acceptable. Whyyy. This is probably the other reason I haven’t posted in the past couple days, the wounds are still being licked. I foresee a lot of desperate pinning and braiding in the near future, along with the consumption of as many vitamins and supplements I can scrounge up so I can delude myself into thinking my hair is growing faster. Okay I will stop complaining now. I AM GOING TO NEW YORK.
Defaulted to denim shorts today..I dug up this highly sheer silk top from Express that I bought years and years ago and NEVER wore. Mostly because I didn’t know what to wear under it, which I solved today except not really. But hey, I figured it was okay to wear it alone if I kept the blazer on. My quest to get wear out of all my shoes continues..I haven’t even bought any since the lace-up Chloes, which sadly is quite an achievement. And yes, that was only a week ago.
Blazer, H&M. Shorts, necklaces, and bag, vintage. Tank, Express. Heels, Jeffrey Campbell.
Erin was sweet enough to make these drawings – she definitely captured my signature loose top/tiny skirt/heels. I love the paper doll quality of her work..now if only my legs were really that long!
Thank you Erin!
T, H&M. Dress, American Apparel. Shorts and pants, RVCA. Wedges, Chloe. Cuff and glasses, vintage. Tights, Target.
A reader commented that she always has millions of questions as to how my photos come about. Well today, it pretty much went like this:
R: Let’s go take pictures with my new shoes!
C: Okay. If we go to Trader Joe’s afterwards.
Mmm yes. So we drove up to a dirt road we drove by this past weekend on the way to get Mexican food that had seemed somewhat promising. After a couple test shots we decided it wasn’t working out, so on the way home we saw this old decrepit restaurant and stopped there instead. Perhaps I shouldn’t unveil the mundanity behind Fashiontoast but well there it is.
A while ago I received an email from the extremely kind Josh from RVCA, saying that he had been following my site..we’ve kept in contact and some crazy exciting stuff is on the way. He and design director Kristin were also sweet enough to send over a very generous amount of clothing, which I received today. I have no idea how it happened since I have a pretty hard time finding pants for myself, but the black skinnies fit me ridiculously perfectly, and I am obsessed with these weird little black lamé running shorts. We all know that Erin Wasson is debuting her line for RVCA soon…I honestly can’t wait. The blending of her personal style and one of the best surf/skate companies around is going to be golden. Until then, I imagine this editorial is the closest we can get to hold us over.
Edited to add: check out Erin’s blog on the RVCA site here.
