Leopard love

Dress, Forever 21. Shirt, Gap. Bag, Givenchy. Heels, Promiscuous.

I’m always getting questions from readers about how comfortable certain pairs of heels are. These are already ranking pretty high on the wearability scale, but if I had to note which are the most comfortable…

1. Nine West blue satin mirrored wedges. NOT the white pleather version I also have. The material makes a huge difference, sadly enough.

2. Chloe red Doc-style wedges. Clunky, but I can wear them forever.

3. Bebe zippered gladiator heels. The huge platform, dude. Plus, once you’re zipped in, your foot really isn’t going to move around in there. This is a reason why laces are also helpful in lessening heel discomfort.

4. Forever 21 canvas sneaker heels. I think the key to purchasing their shoes is to avoid all pleather. Pleather is the devil.

5. Marni gray patent wedges. For how sculptural and shiny they are, I would never expect them to be so painless.

Early inspiration

I’ve been vaguely pondering what I want to purchase for fall. So far I’ve only gotten as far as black lace, leather, chartreuse, and those Emma Cook/Topshop ankle boots that I probably won’t be able to get my hands on. I never really buy with an overall plan in mind anyway, it seems I just end up acquiring randomly when something strikes my fancy and hoping it all comes together. But I remembered a photo Scott Schuman took of some semi-scraggly NYU students and did a quick search on it – the girl on the left steals the show and was the one whose image was seared into my mind. I love the gold chain bracelet and it’s my new goal to find a vintage coat that sweet. An image to keep in mind when I’m tempted to purchase everything in black as it gets colder.

I’m pretty into this unapologetically sheer bodysuit, it’s surprisingly comfortable and provides that perfect first layer under most anything. I got some exercise yesterday climbing to the top of this inexplicably huge mound of dirt and giving my MJs their first real taste of rugged terrain. After my boyfriend pulled us up in his truck and did a donut that sent dust and dirt flying everywhere, of course. GREAT.

We also did some shopping in the men’s section and picked up some new things for him that look really, really good. Who knew it was so fun to dress boys? Well maybe everyone except for me.

My boyfriend and I ran around all day today getting caught up on all of our favorite things to do. Which included some pretty alright photo taking. There are some better, shoe-inclusive ones he took later in the day but I liked the way this random one turned out. I found this Bally bag at a Goodwill in San Francisco a few years ago and it makes me happy every time I rediscover it in my closet. I’ll post the others tomorrow, I’m going to wake up the jet lagged one and make him watch The Tudors with me and the kittens now. Hottest show ever. Yes Johnathan Rhys-Meyers, yes Henry Cavill.

Silver sequin flames

Blouse, shorts, and cuff, vintage. Heels, Oh Deer.

Totally the craziest thing ever. Perhaps a bastard love child of this and this? It’s too bad (really, really too bad) that I don’t have the Balmain moccasin booties to properly channel the bad-ass-ness that could be going on here. It seems like every fall sequins (along with plaid, always a fuss over plaid) are touted as some groundbreaking trend but I kind of love them always. It’s still an even 80 degrees every day here so I can’t break out the lamé leggings/black funnel neck coat/ankle sock/crazy sandal experiment I’m envisioning but I’ve always thought that the glitz is offset pretty well by destroyed denim too. Actually, I’m pretty sure that I think everything matches denim shorts. It’s okay though, it seems like I’m the only one in the blogosphere that actually loves summer and I’m going to relish every last sticky, sandy second of it.

The only sad thing about this blouse is that it’s just the tiniest bit too short to wear as a dress. Even for my (non-existent) standards. I feel like I’ve been over-wearing my Chloe wedges so I made myself go for these Oh Deer Louboutin knockoffs instead. Not seen since the early days of the blog, when coincidentally, I was wearing plaid. And..denim shorts.

If you’re getting bored of studio shots, don’t worry because my beloved is returning from Rome in mere hours. Exciting stuff. And he is apparently bringing me crazy fierce Italian cuffs or something. Sweet. Thanks again to all my friends who helped me out with photographs!
