Zipper harness, designed by Michelle Yue and made by Norwegian Woods’ Angie Johnson, Kain tank, vintage Levi’s jeans, Marc by Marc Jacobs boots, vintage blazer.

The second I laid eyes on this zipper harness ingeniously designed by Michelle Yue, I fell in love. Hard. I love that Michelle hatched the idea and enlisted the help of Norwegian Wood designer Angie Johnson to create it – her expertise with zippers seems pretty much unrivaled. I even went so far as to create an account and make my first purchase ever on the fabled Etsy. After a bunch of emailing and anxious waiting, I received a package from her containing the beloved piece, as well as a few other things designed by her and her friends that elicited way too many delighted squeals as I tore back the tissue paper. Thank you to both Michelle and Angie for working together to make this, I couldn’t possibly love it more. Though I did the first run here in a plain white tank, it weirdly looks good with most everything. I’m going to stop raving now before it gets out of control.

Oh and my year-long search for the perfect boyfriend jeans has come to an end. Good thing, it was getting pretty hopeless there for a while.

I’ve gotten a few requests to showcase my shoes..fitting them all into one photo was just not going to happen so here are my current favorites. This rack is one of many, many shoe organizational systems scattered throughout the house.

Clockwise from top left – Promiscuous, Zara, Chloe, Chloe, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Emma Cook for Topshop, Colin Stuart, Bebe, Marni, Aldo, vintage, and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Forever 21 dress, vintage slip, customized Zara boots.

It’s safe to say that only when it comes to attaining the Balmain look am I compelled to maniacally DIY. I guess I’m pretty lazy, but I mostly just really hate that craft store potpourri smell. I realized somewhere along the way I didn’t have the $16,000 it would take to create the designer look (I’m roughly estimating $15,000 for the dress and a grand for the boots), so I ordered this surprisingly well made dress from Forever 21 and made up for the fringelessness of my Zara boots by devoting an evening to studding them with my boyfriend/watching Gossip Girl and Heroes. They are now some kind of cheap mutant hybrid of FW08 and FW07. And, obviously, my new favorite shoes in the world.

Secondhand sweater, American Apparel leggings, Jessica Simpson boots with vintage boot strap.

I was floored by Scott Schuman’s shot of Anja pre-show at Balmain and was inspired to recreate her leggings/tights. I think I still need to work on some of the rips a bit to make them descend in size order.
