A couple months ago I stayed in Paris for a few days to shoot a video for Longchamp debuting their Balzane bag. My scene was by Notre Dame and involves some mysterious lipstick pointing. Which is a thing. Watch the final product starring the beautiful Audrey Marnay here.
longchamp’s balzane
countdown

Went back to LA for a couple days and now back up north in San Francisco for the Outside Lands festival. It feels like we planned this weekend out eons ago, strange it’s finally here! Can’t wait for the awesome lineup, especially The Decemberists and Arctic Monkeys. Hopefully the 10+ sweaters I packed will suffice. Being someone who usually just throws together a suitcase of the top layer of all my drawers I never really know if I’m hooking myself up or not.
low key

(Zara knit, J Brand 10″ jeans, Theory bag, Dolce and Gabbana wedges)
It suddenly got so “cold” the past few days here in LA…I subsequently switched to giant sweater and jeans and literal effortless makeup mode. Obviously I’m not kidding around with the giantness, it is most unflatteringly tent-like. I got this thing last fall before NY fashion week and ended up leaving it on one of my highest shelves for um months shortly thereafter. Two huge faded patches to prove it. I only realized the hobbit window situated right above it all that time was the culprit after attempting to lint roll the faded sections off. Not my most evolved moment.
I got my hair touched up on Friday at Chris McMillan – the blonde bits were growing out and basically I wanted to extend them a little up again and even things out. The number of questions I get about my hair never ceases to amaze me and I always feel a little useless explaining that I used to bleach the crap out of it and then just stopped..least helpful response ever? Anyway, it was time for a little update. I made an appointment with Casey Carhart and went in slightly nervous about the first dye to touch my hair in almost two years..but she was so sweet and had exactly the light touch I wanted. The ends are brighter and the transition from light to dark more uniform now. Definitely recommend going to her if you want something similar done.
behind the scenes at ralph lauren big pony
Colin and I shot a video ad for new fragrance Seductive #2 from the Ralph Lauren Big Pony Fragrance Collection on our last day in New York..definitely a little outside of our comfort zone (as I’m sure you can tell, he prefers to stay behind the lens..and I’m no expert on cologne) but it was an awesome experience. We shot in and around the Soho Grand and were blessed with unseasonably warm weather as well as an off kilter crew that made going well into the night a lot of fun. I’ll be posting the video in a couple days!
teen vogue february
I’m in the February issue of Teen Vogue talking about East Coast versus West Coast fashion with Julia. I’m obviously a born and bred California girl but have always found inspiration in both perspectives. LA gets a bad rap sometimes for being sloppy or showy or complacent but done right, the undone look it’s known for is pretty sweet. I’m going to sound like a crazy hippie right now but the beaches and deserts and mountains and forests here make me feel alive in a way that has a lot to do with how I put clothes together. Though layering opportunities in New York give me the chance to make use of my inexplicably large jacket/coat collection. How would you describe the differences between the two?
