ghostly easy

(Zara blazer and scarf as belt, Equipment silk shirt, Levi’s shorts, Jessica Simpson hat, Alexander Wang Diego bag, Topshop Andi boots)

I loved the idea of using a more substantial belt as a scarf at the Carin Wester show and the matchiness of the blues here somehow didn’t bother me…the scarf has sort of a mystical horse/star print that I love but haven’t quite figured out a proper way to display while being worn..slowly realizing that there really probably isn’t one. Not being a sarong person is depressing at times. I started the blog on a steady diet of denim shorts and blazers and it felt slightly relieving to return to…the shorts are the same as ever though they’ve frayed into pseudo-nothingness and one of the buttonholes ripped and lost all function a while ago. None of the Levi’s I try to replace them with ever manage to feel quite right though so I’m stuck with what I’ve got. Wore this in and around Bryant Park grabbing a bite to eat and stopping at Kinokuniya and Alice and Olivia, then later to the Imitation of Christ show.

everything at the same time

What I wore the morning of the Derek Lam and Preen shows before hightailing it to Rebecca Minkoff…had to get ready early and comfort was the goal with the slight awareness that it was supposed to start raining at some point in the day. Sometimes you just want to wear clothes that aren’t awkward to curl up in a ball in. Thus the uhh double knitwear. This is the same style that I wore in Stockholm here – I received a lot of emails about what size I bought it in to get the boyfriend look of boyfriend looks and I got it in a size 8 (US). The leggings are kind of an obsession of mine right now – charcoal, pointed seams at the knees, and enough of a flare to set them apart.

Hopped from the Charlotte Ronson afterparty to pick up Bryan (fully committed to leapard print Givenchy) at the Soho Grand and then over to the Wang festivities ie. carnival in a parking lot teeming with every sort of beautiful person imaginable. Got to catch up with Andrew, Kristin, Amy, Mark, Marie, and Esteban Cortazar, make the most of my brief time with these beautiful shoes, and play in the inflatable castle, merry-go-round (which kept going even after someone managed to crack some planks on it mid-ride), and bumper cars. I can honestly say that there was nothing missing from that night….I really don’t know how he’s going to outdo himself next time around but I’m kind of sure he will.

Farewell New York! Ended up spending 10 days there, 4 in Auckland for New Zealand Fashion Week, and then back to the city for the weekend. Made it back to California tonight, marking a return to normalcy and shoe options and eating raspberries standing up in the kitchen and my mechanical toothbrush and a lingering summer and some sort of quiet until Andrew comes into town tomorrow to DJ in La Jolla.

From the Rebecca Minkoff presentation yesterday at Lincoln Center. Definitely a new thing for me but such a great experience working with Rebecca and her team was so much fun. I loved the simplicity of the dress (already available for pre-order here) and the hair was just really really good. The Made Her Think earring (worn with Mr. Kate ear cuffs) was literally sewn into my hair and reminded me of a kind of elf princess from the sea. If such a thing were to exist. Thank you to Rebecca for being such a sweetheart and having me be a part of the presentation!
