The morning I went to their office, Gunji from Vogue Japan was nice enough to invite me to an exhibition of 3.1 Phillip Lim’s spring collection later that afternoon in Sendagaya. I had about an hour of free time so I booked it over there as soon as I could. There was a lot of sickening gasping and fawning done by me over his “puzzle piece” collection…I was slightly bitter that I hadn’t brought my bigger camera that day but luckily I had my Olympus in my bag. Day before last in San Francisco. I got this jacket a while ago from Blue and Cream – the leather is so soft and I sized up to enhance what I think was supposed to be an oversize fit in the first place. Love the longer length and its resulting ability to actually keep you warm. Normally I recoil at the sight of pre-layered clothing but the execution of this thing with the muddy taupe sleeves and extra long trench bit at the ends is awesome. Worn over this sweater I’ve been eyeing for months at Shopbop that finally went on sale..it’s knit kind of like a bustier? If that makes any sense.
Such a gloomy first of the year, the entire day looked and felt like 5 o’clock..going to go right along with the mood and go to a late showing of The Black Swan tonight.

Sorry for the absence! A couple pics from Norcal in a knit hat I got at Oak in New York in September and a Phillip Lim cashmere sweater with mid/double/rolled up/waffle woven sleeves. I’m still here in Tokyo for a few more days and have just now managed to take care of basic internet issues with some sort of miraculous go-anywhere pocket wifi device I bought in Shibuya today that looks like a computer mouse but..isn’t. I haven’t had much time to breathe but the trip has been amazing between the people I’ve met, the opportunities I’ve had, and the chance to work on my Japanese through complete immersion. Exhausted but happy.
Felt pretty triumphant when I ordered the last size in this dress from Net-a-porter after deliberating over it for a few days. Reminds me of wearing a spiderweb or a cirrus cloud. Which is pretty much the ultimate compliment. Colin and I took it to a proper field to let the light seep through it. Indian summer temperatures in California have everyone complaining but I’m kind of enjoying it, though finalizing plans to go to apparently frigid New York City and Tokyo this month might have something to do with that.
Some of you guys may have read about the jewelry line I designed for Dannijo exclusively for Tobi this week on Refinery29, The Examiner, NBC, and Harper’s Bazaar. I’ve been working on this since June and am so excited that the pieces will be available soon (Tobi’s having a presale so get your orders in because quantities will be limited)…I’ll post more on my inspirations for the line and detail shots ASAP – it was seriously a dream come true getting to realize my vision and work with the Dannijo sisters. Wearing the Isosceles necklace here and actually have been wearing the prototypes in all of my posts from the past few months..I’m so happy with them, all of the pieces couldn’t possibly be more..me.
Waiting to head to the opening ceremony the first night of NZFW..lounging in the lobby of the Hilton and trying to look alive after the most disorienting of flights and time changes, wearing Bodkin sweater, vintage hooded jacket, Forever 21 black stone ring, 3.1 Phillip Lim leather shorts, fashiontoast x Dannijo Loveless ring, and BCBG Mendel boots.
