neon dust

I bought this dusty pink dress from Topshop last spring..it’s become a go-to for comfort/smock dressing that still looks purposeful. The other day it wasn’t quite warm enough to frolic in a bikini at Venice so this ended up being the halfway point. I can never really decide what shoes to wear with it so Havaianas simplify things anyway. I’m definitely not complaining, this is one of my favorite spots but I seriously can’t wait to head to Honolulu later this week with Colin to hang out with turtles and go waterfall hunting. Until then just dreaming about 80 degree days in December.

morning in hibiya park

(Prada coat and suede platform sandals)

I spent a few days at this Imperial Palace-adjacent Park over the summer shooting the Lumine campaign with Colin and being assaulted by mosquitoes (I literally sprinted back to the trailer after the last outfit was shot) but it was quite a different experience going back last week with Bryan for an early morning stroll after breakfast at the Peninsula. We had the entire place to ourselves to freeze in aside from scattered maintenance staff members and there wasn’t a single life threatening insect in sight. I wore the beautiful Prada coat from the night before..I love that it’s so simple with that innocent drop waist tie but the teal collar is so over the top glamorous. Nothing I’d rather wear to space out at a giant pond, or at least pretend to.

double dipped

(The Suit Company coat over Topshop ‘boyfriend’ coat, Topshop sweater, 3.1 Phillip Lim leather shorts, Alexa Chung x Madewell boots, Marco Tagliaferri bag, Chanel nail polish in Blue Boy)

Shot in the heart of Shibuya. Wearing tights was getting so boring by the time my Tokyo stay was coming to an end I took them off in a dressing room (always so handy in new ways you are Topshop) when I realized it wasn’t actually deathly cold out. Almost pleasant even. The double coating was the fortuitous result of not wanting to carry around a shopping bag all day. I’m not proud of this but being used to shoving everything into my car has genuinely affected my handle gripping endurance. I love the way the collars and lengths match up sort of perfectly imperfectly….desperately situational dressing works out sometimes.

earthly delights

Dreamy shots that Colin took of me right before I came to Tokyo. He always makes me forget the rest of the world exists. Sometimes the most unplanned days are so perfect, right?

triple denim in tokyo

12/12/2011, outfits

(J Brand jacket, ASOS shirt, American Apparel denim skirt, Uniqlo tights, Alexa Chung for Madewell Zowie boots, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag)

You wouldn’t think it’d take a frigid few days in Tokyo to bring my denim jacket love back to the surface but this J Brand update has been serving it’s duty as the perfect layering piece. I wore it over a patchwork denim shirt I ordered from ASOS a few weeks ago and the high waisted skirt I was throwing around all summer. So yes, triple denim, really. My bad. The jacket’s extra long sleeves do an excellent job peeking out of most heavy duty outerwear worn on top, though this particular coat defeats all in a Chewbacca hug of fluffiness. So oversized is it that it almost renders everything worn inside moot but with enough strategic positioning Bryan took a shot where it’s not swallowing the whole outfit. We took these while wandering around Yurakucho looking for ways to entertain ourselves, which we did not fail at accomplishing by a long shot. This is the exact area that I shot the Lumine campaign a few months ago so I played tour guide as well as translator for Team Us until we retreated back to our rooms at the Peninsula Hotel to warm up. I think I finally found winter.
