play by play at phillip lim

Arriving at Skylight at Moynihan Station, quite the beautiful traffic vortex, this place. It’s one of the more photogenic show venues in New York, what with the historic New York vibe contrasting against the stark industrial interior. Very important to set up coordinates of exactly where you’re going to meet your mode of transport afterwards otherwise you’ll probably perish wandering forlornly up and down 9th Avenue. Well, there are worse ways to go. You’ll at least have lots of company in the same boat.

See me equipped with my Sony Xperia Z tablet, my latest toy to keep me updated on the go. It sold itself on waterproof.

I really hope there was no almond butter on my face.

My pal Andrew Bevan escorted me in, which was my favorite. And hey, nice nude briefcase, Andrew, I like that.

Also my favorite was seeing beautiful Marie who I last met up with in Tokyo over the summer.

Fray in the front row.

Some of my favorite looks. Everything stiff and boxy is appealing to me right now, so that sheath dress is conversing with my soul. Same goes for the Lim-ified trench and duffle.

Sneaking out of the vortex.

Last shots in this outfit before dinner in the West Village. And finally the outfit details – Acne Mape biker jacket, Robert Rodriguez top, Étoile Isabel Marant foldover skirt, Céline wedges, Ray-ban Wayfarers, and Valentino monogrammed wrist clutch. Overall A+ afternoon.

a tokyo summer’s day

29/07/2013, céline, isabel marant, tokyo

(Ragdoll tshirt, Isabel Marant shorts, Céline espadrilles, Proenza Schouler chain wallet, second version in ASOS top and Barbara Bui bucket bag)

More from earlier this month in Shibuya – dressing for a day walking all day through wall-like humidity was something that I didn’t really struggle with. Wispy and barely existent fabrics are both easy to pack and all I own. I wore a pair of metal-bedecked gauzy culotte shorts with a beaten up Ragdoll tshirt which I later switched out for something a little more feminine and fluttery to go visit my grandparents. Almost as much fun to shoot in sensory overload heaven Shibuya again as it was to shop for like, banana shaped iPhone cases and tear-look eyeliner. Ok I only bought half of the items mentioned but I never said I make all the right choices.

(Brandy Melville Vittoria tank, Lover shorts and jacket, Isabel Marant Caleen boots, Ray-ban Outsiders Oversized Wayfarer sunglasses, Alexander Wang Pelican sling bag)

A taco salad/strawberry/coconut water picnic and apparently near yoga session wearing a new favorite tank from Brandy Melville. Something that I’m perhaps overly into right now is things with laser cutouts brushing their hems and if I can integrate that all into a tank and shorts set, even better. It’s all very specific.

last day in rabat

09/06/2013, ankle boots, isabel marant, morocco, rag & bone

(Anine Bing top, Iro Owen pants, Isabel Marant Caleen boots, Rag & Bone Floppy Brim Fedora, Jennifer Zeuner Nezareh and Mini Raquel necklaces)

From the last day in Rabat with that twinge of having to leave soon making everything around us that much more beautiful. Somehow the most pajama-like combination my suitcase had to offer was the only one I hadn’t worn yet. The loose pants I got in Paris back in March during a strategic Iro rampage, the top is yet another perfect Anine Bing basic.

the chellah ruins

03/06/2013, isabel marant, morocco, vintage

(LF sweater, Iro Irwin skirt, vintage bag, Isabel Marant Carol sandals)

There’s an eerie knocking sound that storks make by tapping their beaks really quickly which, along with dead silence, was the only soundtrack to the hour spent wandering around the obviously super haunted ruins of Chellah outside of Rabat. I’m not sure if it was just luck that we went when it was so deserted – it’s definitely one of those overgrown cat-ruled type of spots that I try not to skip when visiting a new place. I really don’t know where to start with the Morocco posting, the volume of incredible things I saw makes it kind of like staring up a sheer cliff face. But new animal friends can’t be a bad place to set off from? Or something? I wore my current default sandals with that Iro skirt, an old cropped knit I packed last minute, and a bright woven bag I found at a swap meet in San Diego forever ago.
