Buffalo check is usually best relegated to camping gear catalogs (looks excellent on scratchy blankets) but is occasionally successfully feminized..Isabel Marant’s version is shrunken, collarless, and can be left open-ish via ideally sparse button placement. Plus Isabeli Fontana kinda sold me on the idea looking all perfect wearing the same one in the latest Vogue in an oddly inspiring athletic themed editorial. Brazilian models are very useful when it comes to that sort of brainwashing. I layered it here with a simple black long-sleeved shirt cause it was windy and on the verge of not even being appropriate to have opted for shorts.

Let me know what you think about the site redesign! Still working out some kinks but everything should be much neater..and the search function is back along with archiving that makes sense. The goal is simple and clean so hopefully that was achieved.

(Bec and Bridge parka, Isabel Marant dress over Herff Christiansen dress, Barbara Bui boots, Chan Luu bracelet)I love the idea of throwing on large utilitarian-looking things that feel as if they’ve been beaten over rocks for a few centuries over small things that look to have washed ashore onto said rocks after failing at their original purpose of capturing marine life. Yes. It’s all about finding the right balance. This Bec and Bridge piece is oversized and longer in the back and reminds me of a shirt a science teacher might wear. But it’s a parka and therefore awesome.

I wore it with an Isabel Marant open knit cotton tank dress (?) I got at Creatures of Comfort and Barbara Bui motorcycle boots that I had dyed black from a much less wearable pewter. Well worth the two week wait and the involved process of removing the dye from the rivets one by one with cosmetic Q-tips dipped in nail polish remover. Actually that part was kind of fun. Right now they’re looking a little obscenely jet black but they should slowly dull beautifully. End outfit post.

Red makes for a fun update to the old uniform..I cut these off at a nice awkward spot, ran them through the washing machine, and dressed them down with the tshirt I slept in all weekend and these floppy suede boots I got at Barneys last summer in Philadelphia. Which look awful worn all the way up (I tried again today just to make sure..gross gross gross) but so perfectly off folded over. Just another sunny day. Right now I’m off to go watch Hot Tub Time Machine and cool off with some watermelon.
