Polaroids by Osami Yabuta from yesterday’s shoot with ViVi here in Tokyo…cannot even convey how excited I was to work with them, I’m such a huge fan…it’s been an amazing experience so far…I fought my mom every step of the way when she made sure to speak Japanese to me and put me in Japanese school every Saturday morning…but I could not possibly be more thankful for everything she did now. Sickening I know. Everyone has been so welcoming/funny/sweet/perfect and I think I’ve learned and spoken more Japanese in the past four days than I thought possible. I’m seriously even starting to prefer the humidity. And the crowds. And the walking everywhere. Ok stopping now before I say anything certifiably crazy.

(Forever21 headband, vintage dress, Forever21 necklaces and headband, Dolce & Gabbana wedges)

Shopping/eating/wilting in the heat in Soho…I saw this leather dress in the window of a store in Venice Beach while making my way to Gjelina a couple weeks ago….was sold on the mannequin enough to order it on the phone the next day. Prada made something like this (as in exactly) a few years ago and I never did get that dress out of my head. Blame it on Carine for making it look good enough to not be able to forget. I love sparse black in the summer.

The idea of sweater shorts is sort of hilarious to me…I had a pair when I was little mostly for warmth purposes as far as I can recall but I knew I loved these when I first saw them in New Zealand…anything that can simultaneously channel arctic and bohemian probably needs to be in my closet. They’re really that thick and nubby, not that I would expect SGC to skimp on the sturdiness of a cable knit…everyone knows that the guys can slash and tear but their cozier pieces are what really get me. These in particular would keep you warm by the most pitiful of bonfires.

We shot these in San Diego by the tallest stalkiest yellow flowers..couldn’t have dreamed them up to be any crazier than they are. There are fields where they literally go on forever…but those are far away at the moment, I just checked into my hotel in Tokyo and am heading to sleep..finallly…

Wearing pretty much Forever 21 everything, D&G wedges

Some shots from the Forever 21 preview party (and one from the next morning) – things started off surreally with a walk by the campaign bus on the way in..there was an editor’s hour previewing new pieces, sipping champagne, and marveling over the cab parked at the bottom level and the 90,000 square feet the store covers…progressed into a packed house and a performance by The Virgins. I had a ton of fun and got to see a lot of my favorite faces..thanks F21 for having us! See more shots on their blog here – I’m at the Salt Lake City airport right now so I only have a few photos that I was able to upload before leaving my house this morning..but there are defintely more to come. Heading to Tokyo for a few photo shoots that I’m super excited about..just gotta get through this interminable layover first..I think my next step is wandering around in hopes of finding a Jamba Juice.

What I wore today while running last minute errands before flying out to New York tomorrow for the Forever 21 store opening in Times Square..which devolved into dinner at one of our favorite Japanese restaurants instead of packing. I figure I’ll sort it out in the morning and just throw everything I’m liking the most into a suitcase/hope for the best/what I always do no matter what. I wanted to bring these jeans because I’m obsessed with them but 90 degree weather forecasts killed that idea…the top I bought months ago on eBay from South Korea (keyword fringe can be useful) and forgot all about it until it finally arrived in a spacey silver mailer last week and turned out to be the most perfect fringe tshirt ever. The only weird part being that the label in the back reads “Colin”. Random.
