first morning in nyc

(vintage leopard coat and sweater, Henry Duarte x J Brand jeans, ribbed knee socks, D&G wedges, Alexander Wang Hilary bag)

J Brand sent me some jeans last week..as one commenter noted, I "don't own any pants". This isn't entirely true, but honestly I just hate shopping for them since I barely every try clothes on in stores. I trust my eye for picking out my size for everything..except jeans. But these are a perfect second skin.

New York has been amazing and nonstop and I am dead tired right now...I got by in the above outfit by wearing two pairs of socks, two pairs of gloves, and three tops. The city is freezing! But so beautiful.

I cannot tell you how UNAMAZING you look right now. And J Brand should be ASHAMED to send you over a pair of jeans for you only to make them look TERRIBLE. Looks like I have yet another brand to boycott. And are you insane, wearing SUEDE in the SNOW is a major no no. I don't know why all of these lapdogs think you are a fashion savior, when I think you're just not.

I DO NOT LOVE IT.

i like you, and your style, because it seems like you follow your own style and combine it with whats in fashion right now, and thats create a perfect balance and a very edgy, personal style I LOVE .
I hate all those people who follow the trends like slave. So it pisses me off when (some) people call you un-fashionanble? because you don't (or what it looks like) follow the latest trends whit dead and pain.
PLUS I got very inspired by this looks, great idea with the socks :) actually i get vey often inspired by this blog..
Love you Rumi, and you BEAUTIFUL and unique style.

Sorry for my english, i'm France :)

You are so effortlessly chic. You look more and more like Kate moss everytime I see you. I die for your coat. P.s Karen walker from where did you get that is wearing your exact outfit from a few posts back...same shoes and all. Major faux pas for her if I do say so myself.

Anonymous said...

i like the jeans tucked into socks worn with wedge "geek chic" thing. Not a fan of the scarf or white top. jacket is a classic i would have worn some dark wintery oversized layers underneath and a chunky textured scarf. but thats me

What does "Cause I'm a Jerk" mean about Rumi looking bad in those pans? I most say I laughed when i saw that comment, cause' seriously she looks stunning in them, they looks like in the picture, like they were made for her, and 2. of all, you can't she them that much, to say they are ugly?
And who says you can't wear suede in snow?

@ MARINA

yo pienso que Rumi has no fashion sense because she imitates what has already been done. please see the olsen twins, courtney love, debbie harry and kate moss for examples. and you are french! what in the helloise are you doing on this whacktacular site? if you get inspired by this, might i suggest you go kick rocks for exercise??

Cause I'm a Jerk said...

yoyoyo

AnnaMari. I have gots a response for you (and it goes a little something like DIS)

What does "Cause I'm a Jerk" mean about Rumi looking bad in those pans? (you mean PANTS. And I meant she looks terrible in them because she has absolutely NO figure and skinny jeans are about wearing them with style and pizazz and not looking like a bulky stocking). I most say I laughed when i saw that comment, cause' seriously she looks stunning in them, they looks like in the picture, like they were made for her, and 2. of all, you can't she them that much, to say they are ugly? (My guess is that you are a very ugly girl with low selfesteem. Work on that. New year, new attitude).
And who says you can't wear suede in snow? (UmmmmmMMMMMmm, suede in the snow will get ruined. Do you see fashionistas wearing suede jackets in the RAIN??? WATER DAMAGE YOU DUMMY).
try aging "cause I'm a jerk" ironic.. :) (I am aged. Like a CHEESE from Paris).

English Lapdog Numnum loves this look and doesn't give a flying stinky french cheese if yo' jeans were a freebie. And no point havin' shoes that good if you don't wear them. Suede stains in the snow? No shit sherlock. Think that was jerk's Eureka moment of a lifetime? Scarily profound. Cough.

I don't really get people saying "ohhh that's so unfashionable/stupid" when fashion is all about experimenting and wearing what you like. I've been reading a ton of street fashion blogs and it just made me appreciate everyone has a cool, different style even if it's not always to some random other person's tastes.

ANYWAYS, I really like the socks + wedges idea and then pants do look really nice! I always have trouble making an outfit with pants look good to me (I always wear skirts/dresses/tights) so this is good inspiration! :)

loooooong comment is long sorry. :x
