SHORE CLUB

(Topshop jacket, vintage slipdress and navy chain belt, Balenciaga bag, Chanel wedges)

A tour through the streets stacked along the beach boardwalk in a pretty stupid ode to Givenchy's spiked headband. I do really love these horns though..I last wore them for New Year's Eve. I watched Howl's Moving Castle a couple weeks ago and now all I see is Howl in his bird incarnation when I look at this jacket. Which then triggers the cracked out mental visions left behind by that movie and leaves me checked out for a few minutes. Dreamer.

Rumi, a while ago you stated you read every comment on FT.. So why do you keep dulling us with the black shirtdress/black tights combo? There are some nasty comments out there, but a lot of your readers are, or rather WERE real admirers who wish they'd get the old, innovative rumi back. You won't even crack a smile on your pictures, even though dozens of them have been asking for it. Also, when posting the backstage shots of the NZ shoot a few weeks ago, it started a discussion about the use of fur in the shoot. I'm guessing people would really want to hear your take on it, but you've never even taken the smallest bit of time show you cared.. Have you really gotten that fame-starved, that FT is now about ignoring your readers and maintaining some kind of image?
I hardly even know why I'm writing this, I bet you 'can't be bothered' with criticism.

Yeah, and Shoptoast used to have gems and things that made me salivate for reasonable prices. Now it's kind of been on the sucky side with overpriced things. Where's the passion? Or is it only about money and fame now? Where's the girl who wrote funny, insightful entries - and actually acknowledged her followers with a thank you post. You used to seem like someone we could relate to. Your style was so different with just the right amount of whimsy. I hate to sound like the anon assholes but that was the Rumi I admired. Now you seem to wear the same pieces in rotation with no effort whatsoever and it SUCKS because those of us who've been following Fashiontoast know what you are capable of. Please don't let all the fame you've been getting change you.

I think what some of you are failing to realize is that this is her blog, famous or not, and she's going to wear whatever she wants. She could quite possibly wear black opaque tights well into the new year and that's her prerogative. I understand the frustration(?) that some of you feel, fan and "foe" alike, requesting/demanding her to change her looks. I think this is happening because on some level, you believe that Rumi owes you something, I'm guessing due to her new found celebrity. Maybe she does. It IS a curious thing to see happen though, this kind of master/servant interplay . You are almost wondering who is in which role.

sure I have seen rumi rocking similar looks lately, but don't we all do that. I know I stumble upon a certain garment or look or mood that will dictate for a time how i put my outfits together, usually various incantations of the same general vibe until I discover my next love affair and move on thats how style evolves. I think seeing rumi rework a similar look makes her blog more personable I can relate to that. She could play dress ups and take photos for us but I would prefer to see what she is actually wearing on a day to day basis

Hey, you've found an awesome alternative to the black F21 knit headband! I'm so adoring these horns... so unexpected, yet it charmingly matches the rest of your accessories :) And THAT jacket is another story! I love how it gives volume to your lean body, and I'm so glad it's cropped as well. Also, bravo for the nice touch of green from the Balenciaga bag.. I feel it really enhanced the outfit.

Yeah, we do have the power to make or break this blog, but I want to see her successful. For the person who said this is her blog she can do what she wants (that's so true) but she WANTS followers. Just like a singer can perform but if noone comes to the show then what? I just think she's selling herself short. She has so much influence all the "baby blogs" are following her photography, poses, and style. It seems like when people started to copy her she started to copy others. There was a time if you look back where her style was charming, whimsical, hardcore, and hippie all rolled into one. But after she lost the weight and started getting the free designer duds she lost a few other things that made fashiontoast . . . fashiontoast.

I think you should wear whatever you want & no one else has the right to dictate your sense of style. I think you're really attractive & you have some beautiful clothes. Your style has evolved for sure but your look does look more studied, derivative & try-too-hard. If I look at a pic of a model like Kate Moss or Erin Wasson, they always look effortless & as if they're trying to downplay their beauty. But you always look like you're dressing to try to draw attention to yourself, especially with the over the top footwear. You seem too concerned with the overall aesthetic than dressing to reflect your personality or your feelings at that moment in time, which is what the true style icons embrace. When Erin wears a barely-there tank top, it looks like she wants to be comfortable & doesn't give a sh*t. When you wear it, it looks like you think it's a good look & wanted to copy it. Get my drift? But that's just my opinion. Style's a subjective matter so you'll always have your fair share of fans & haters. Think you should keep on doing what you do & not have to answer to anyone but have enough humility to accept all kinds of opinions, good or bad, because that's really what putting yourself out in the public sphere is all about.

If her blog sucks so much, why do you keep re-visiting it and posting comments?

Howls Moving Castle is a great film, but nothing like the book, which is SO MUCH BETTER. Seriously. I urge everyone to read this, Diana Wynne Jones is a great writer.
