staples

(American Apparel sexuali-tee, Forever 21 stirrup leggings, Zara leather jacket, vintage belt and bag, Dolce & Gabbana wedges)

Trotting back to my car after lazily eating a 4:00 lunch on Sunday at one of my favorite restaurants. Mahi-mahi sandwich on sourdough with avocado always works. I know this is probably the most basic of silhouettes ever and possibly more reminiscent of my style last year but somehow this belt and these wedges embolden me to water everything else down. Pieces like these are so ideal for mornings when I stare at my closet blankly, unwilling to sift and shove hangers around. Which actually happens a lot. Best quick fix is to zero in on one thing and force yourself to construct around it. If crawling back into sheets still warm from body heat isn't an option, of course. Which it really should be more often.

Oh my god - I just realised something: I only come to this blog to read the negative comments (and the hysterical responses, always over-eager to defend whatever ridiculous thing Rumi is wearing). The bitchy comments are by far the most interesting thing about Fashion Toast. I know you Rumi fans will tell me not to come here if I don't like Rumi's style, but the truth is that this is the blog I love to hate. So, really, I should say: thank you Rumi. Thank you for providing countless hours of entertainment over these last couple of years :)
Keep it up, Rumi - the more annoyingly pretentious and/or vacuous = THE BETTER!!!

Hey Rumi,

It's always fun to see your more "creative" outfits - the ones in which you throw together the strangest things and somehow make it all work in a weird way. But I love it when you wear outfits like this - the easily palatable, incredibly flattering outfits that draw attention to the body instead of to the clothing items themselves. You're the master of this latter style of dress.

Nice hair, too.

The Queen of Hearts said...

What I like: the leather jacket, leggings and the tshirt (not to mention the Chanel).

What I don't like: the belt that doesn't go and the wedges. I would have killed the belt and done some classic Fryes. I don't know why, but the richness of the suede on the wedges and the matte black of the leggings kill me.

B! said...

This is the first time I leave a comment but I just wanted to say that I love all your looks especially this one. I love the Jacket!
