cross your heart

(Alexander Wang cardigan, Ray-ban Retro Cat sunglasses, vintage dress and Chanel bag, H&M lariat necklace, Dolce & Gabbana wedges)

The air was so dry today that my hair dried stick straight and no amount of product seemed to do anything to it. I have very situational hair to the point that it's not really worth it to try to make it do anything so I gave up after a couple clumsy pawings. Did some wandering around downtown San Diego as the sun set (note the lightning fast loss of light), found a dog that ignored me, and fell for Domo-Kun marketing. In all honesty the downtown here is pretty worthless aside from a few restaurants..but maybe I'm just spoiled being right by the beach with everything I need in a mile radius. In any case, I'll be in LA and San Francisco in the next couple weeks so YAY.

And clothes etc etc I LOVE my new rather dramatic Wang cardigan and have finally found a new pair of sunglasses to cherish/smash into tiny purses/lose in my car. Becoming more and more obsessed with black and gold and haven't taken off this sideways cross necklace...my second Etsy purchase ever. Place still kind of freaks me out and I've grown pretty attached to eBay. I can really only take so many websites that require registration especially since I always try to top my last cleverly obscure password to keep things interesting for myself.

wow, being a sd native who's also lived in SF and LA, i agree sd's downtown scene is pretty lackluster in comparison to the other two urban cali cities. i wish it wasn't just high rise condos, rooftop hotels, and overpriced restaurants with mediocre food. definitely needs a fashion district badly. in due time, i suppose.

p.s. i am digging the shiny mohair wang cardigan and your hair color fade, though i know the weather has gone into slightly drier, colder, weirdness. can't wait for thanksgiving in good ol' sd.

p.s.s. weird trivia fact: the buildings above the whiskey girl featured in the first few photos used to be wyatt earp's casino and brothel.

I have hair like yours; fine, wispy, and doesn't do what I want it to. For me it looks best and healthiest when it's shorter, otherwise it's just knots and static and flatness, but short hair doesn't really seem like your style. Have you ever had your hair short or would you try it?

I hear you loud and CLEAR about new sites with required registration and passwords. And about situational hair. Mine's situational to the point that I just deal with it too. If it's hot and humid, it curls...if it's cold, it dries straight...if it's moderate, it's loose waves.

Oh well.

And p.s. I freakin adore this silhouette. The cardigan is heaven. So tempted now! And matched with what look to be vintage silk shorts and those killer wedges, its perfection. May I please steal your wardrobe? (Hey, atleast I'm asking :)

Haha, have a great week..

I think the reason why I haven't fallen in love with Alexander Wang like the rest of the free world is because I can't reconcile his price points for what he puts out. I think the cardigan is nice, but I don't think it is amazing enough for $650. This is especially true for me when I see that it is 37% the cheapest synthetic on the market and then 26% the second cheapest. I just think in light of the economic climate, designers need to consider that their clients don't have the deepest, most unlimited pockets (or have completely lost their minds) as they have had in the past. Further -- that he's basically just capitalizing off of the styles that exist in any urban bohemian atmosphere -- copies of an original for nearly a G. I don't know. I don't think he's not talented, I just like to see things for what they are and understand their popularity.

rumi, i want to tell u ur hair looks awful, but i'll back it up with reasons why: it just looks so damaged and the color is beyond reproach. sjp did the dark root thing really well but there's an art to it, you can't just let it go unchecked. urs just looks so amateur and in this day and age of digital celebrity, u have to monitor your look even if you're going for messy bohemian which i know u gravitate towards. do urself a favor and invest a little less in clothing/accessories this month and give the gift of sight to those who want to be able to look at pictures of your hair w/o being tortured in the eyes. helping not hurting. xo

hey rumi!! love the blog and i quite like this outfit.. it's just very weird to me why some people feel the need to say that every single thing you do or wear is AMAZING OMG BEST I VE EVER SEEN ONLY YOU CAN DO IT RUMI blah blah blah.. I do think your style is very original but i cant get how people can say this hair color is amazing. I mean I like the straightness a lot but the color is just a mess. I just hate roots.. I mean if you re not going to keep doing it just get highlights or something.. And also, when someone does the unkempt out-of-bed look most of the time I think the color needs to be impeccable. It s a style you dont have to look like an actual bum.
