you're just across the street looks a mile to my feet

(Ray-bans, Forever 21 knit braided headband, vintage slipdress, vest, blazer, and shoes, UO tights, Alexander Wang Diego bag)

Kind of sad how long it's been since I've worn a blazer...this one has been stagnating in my closet for the past year or so and it might have continued to do so if I hadn't started fishing around for something to smarten up this wispy thing of a dress. The shoes are finally on the verge of being broken in and are pretty much my current obsession even if boys hate them. Socal boys also hate massive cardigans, hoof-like boots, and big feathery clutches so their credibility is shot.

Soo happy my bangs are growing out successfully, been dying to center part it for months now..have decided to just let the natural color take over for a while.

Tonight: green tea, dark chocolate, The Hills, my alternately bratty/snuggly cats, trying to catch up with emails, and maybe figuring out a warm vacation spot for December.

I think this might be boys in general. They dont seem to understand that shoes are not always dainty sandals and knee-high boots. From my boyfriend to my brothers they all dont quite understand one's obsession for shoes much less shoes like this. The reaction I got for showing off my black lace tights with my new peep-toe booties was "you look like one of those western chicks". Nice.

Not to be a downer on all the positiveness on your outfit, but to me the headband doesn't really go with the outfit. Rather, it clashes. It may be the it's chunky nature. A slimmer black headband would have worked wonderfully.
Beautiful blazer and I love the cowboy-esq shoes.

boys in san diego are not used to seeing clothes on girls, so style is totally alien! the feeling of confusion is mutual however, i don't quite understand their obsession with flip flops for all occasions? they have a place i suppose, but not in a wedding or with a blazer per say...

Isabel said...

I think your shoe are marvelous, who gives a shit what boys think?

Mollie said...

SoCal boys believe style is either anything with a spade on it (dear god save us all) or wearing a v-neck. It's awful, why can't there be chic guys here as well? San Fran is where they find Mecca I guess.

This style is so dreadfully boring, I can't stand it! What happened to your more adventurous side, Rumi? It has fallen to the wayside in exchange for palpability of the mass consumers. You know, one of the trends for the season- Neon - would have done wonders to punch up this outfit a bit. Some bright yellow bauble, ring or bracelet, maybe a Binns-like masterpiece that's a little more pocket-friendly... so many ideas but such a disappointment in your own interpretation and execution.

This is going to make me sound like a bitter Betty but I've got to say it: I just don't understand black opaque tights in Southern California! It is balls hot over there (and I know, as I've been several times) and the thought of schlepping it in rayon tights makes my flesh crawl. I get it, fashion for fashion's sake but you aren't going to catch me wearing a micro-mini in the dead of winter in New York. I believe in realistic street style -- I save the future and the fantastical for the runways.
