sleep to dream

(Karen Walker sunglasses, Lou and Ash woolen jacket, RVCA tank, d luxe necklace, Pamela Love cross ring, Bona Drag lace flares with built in shorts let me add, vintage cuff, Miu Miu wedges)

In beautiful beautiful Piha an hour or so outside of Auckland, wearing my favorite summer basics + the raddest jacket I've ever seen. Lou and Ash is a new NZ label designed by Ava Sanders..everything is handknit and has this unmistakable look that's unlike anything I've seen before. I keep on thinking I'm going to reach a plateau with my knitwear obsession but instead I just get crazier about fringing and patchworking and now the progression into knit shorts and dresses and the like is looming. Thank you to Anna and her adorable dog Olly for showing us some of the beautiful countryside. So adorable was he that even after barfing in Colin's lap (hey, windy roads) during the car ride over his charms remained irresistible. The best part about it being that he had been sitting with me for twenty minutes and quite purposefully made his way over to Colin in order to make himself more comfortable. We can't wait to go back and spend a week tromping around in the wilderness..this place puts Hawaii to shame. I have so much more from both NZ and NY to post! Still finding memory cards to download. Sorry about that last shot, Marc is clearly a vampire since every shot where he's even just milling around in the background of the photo comes out blurry. Weird.

I don't even know where to start with this monstrosity of an outfit.

I am at a loss for words. I mean, where do I begin? Those wretched, cheap looking flared lacet pants and matching visible lace bra? That hedious jacket that looks like you stole it off a coke mule in Colombia? The fact that, for some reason beyond plausible explanation, you decided to pair this outfit with those wedges? Your mentally ill choice of accessories?

I...I just...I just can't anymore.

This 'never ending' outfit was boring the first time you wore it and adding

------------
Why are you using the thing I said about the never ending outfit? Like I said in another post, some of you are obviously bitter and the fact that you dig and dig makes it evident. I only said that if we have to see the lace pants in multiple blogs i'd love to see where else she can take them fashion-wise (because they kept being paired w/ the RVCA tank and lace bra) I felt like she was just putting on anything for comments not caring that she is an inspiration to a lot of us. So yes, I did refer to it as the never ending outfit, but ugh get your own sayings and stop trying to make it seem as though we're the same person by reading what I wrote.

Non-Jaye Anon said...

When you copywrite 'never ending' lemme know. Until then, if you don't like the way its used, don't say it.

Anon658 I actually do think about this re-wearing/reworking issue... probably too much as it is, but in reality if that's what I wore that day and we ended up taking photos then that's going to comprise a post. If I started measuring the creativity and innovation of every look I put together I'd probably just give up blogging altogether. There's a certain level of expectation at this point that I'm never quite sure how comfortable I am with but I really don't own that much clothing, a large portion of it is thrifted, and you'd probably cringe if you knew how often I ACTUALLY rewear not only pieces but outfits. Simply posting something is not equivalent with proclaiming it the most interesting or amazing..personally I would argue the opposite. Thanks for sticking around though. And I don't mean that in a really defensive way, it's just the truth :)

Randi said...

Seriously, I can't take it anymore. Some of the people who comment on here are monstrous! I've never taken the time to comment on a blog before, but now here I go. Those flare pants are AMAZING!!!! Yes, AMAZING, in capital letters. Fashion evolves people! And the persons who say that those pants are hideous are the same people who thought skinny jeans were ugly a year ago and are now wearing them. The same people who said that the Balenciaga harness boots were horrendous, but are now paying 350+ to wear the knock-offs. I'm sick of slow, uncreative, non forward-thinking people leaving comments on here. No, I don't think every outfit on here blows my mind. But what unrealistic standards are you holding this girl to?? I love that she posts so often. I love the little fashion "jewels" I find on here. I love seeing new stuff, and I also love to see how an outfit evolves. Do you never wear the same outfit twice? Do you expect this girl to wear something totally new and never seen before for every post? What person could keep up a steady blog and do that?? Who has that kind of budget and time? I just don't understand some of you. I don't understand what you get by making those cutting comments. Do you get pleasure by making someone else feel a little pang of hurt? What a sick heart you have. Do you feel empowered by bringing someone else down?? The typical thing to say would be that I feel sorry for you. But I don't feel that way. I'm scared. I'm scared that there are people out in the world like you. Why do that to someone over clothing of all things? What kind of people are you? Clothing? Please, I beg that you be self-reflective the next time you go to leave a vicious comment. I guess that's all I have to say.

Anonymous said...

Randi, I agree with what you are saying about the cutting comments - but to say that we are not able to form an opinion by saying we do not like something is the most demented thing I've heard.

I also have never been moved to comment, but your rant is utterly ridiculous, and almost as stalkerish and cringeworthy as the crazy 'leave britney alone' guy on YouTube. Rumi has already responded to her comments and does not give forum to the anons showing that it does not bother her. Why you feel you had to jump into her defense on will never know, she is never gonna send you any free shit.

Get a life. Oh and I can assure you I'm not any of the anons from above.

Ha yeah, I guess I did go on a ridiculous rant. (Embarassed) A couple glasses of wine and a bad day at work will make you do crazy things. I'm all for free speech. I think tactful negative comments are definitely okay. Even welcome. Everyone has a different opinion. It's just the vicious ones that get me. I should have clarified that.

Q said...

Geez...we're not saying we hate Rumi. We just hate the pants. It's ok to hate pants. Pants don't have feelings. Pants will not commit suicide if you are mean to them!

your style is very 90's. interesting as not many people have looked back on that decade yet it almost looks like a new style. I was only born then but my sister in all the photos wore that style, the hair plaits, the rings, the baggy knits. It is a great style for the young and skinny. However all that travel will take it's tole on you, you look like you need a feed and some shut eye. Don't loose your youth!!

I only know you from the pictures, but I just love the way you laugh in them.
