triad

(Rumi for RVCA Triad tank, H&M bra, Balenciaga cuff, vintage lace jacket, UO jeans, Ashish for Topshop boots)

We were bummed about Friday's and Saturday's rain at first but then ended up having a ton of fun shooting in it. I'm so excited to finally post one of the pieces that I designed for RVCA, the Triad Tank. It's set to be available through my blog starting spring '10 and then through RVCA subsequently. I really wanted to do something comfortable with a kind of fluid drape to it, a basic that could be worn with everything but still had a distinct look. I've been wearing it a ton in the past couple months and will fully vouch for the fact that the hem solves awkward leggings issues, can be worn with shorts without looking pants-less due to the open sides, and makes for a much less bulky half-tuck. Part II coming soon..

Other: also wearing the piece I posted a couple weeks ago from La Dama (new shop, really good jewelry selection), the lace jacket I found at a thrift store, and the first run in the Ashish boots was good. They're almost bouncy. Successfully talked Kristin into buying them in black at the store. Which I've visited twice..it's like Candyland, really.

As a long time reader, I applaud you for the success that you've earned through this blog, but you look sincerely bored these days (months, really). I suppose its easy (safe) to ride the downtown rich party girl look when the whole blog & fashion world has their eyes on you, but I think it would do your career some good to figure out what separates you from the rest. Breathe some new life into your style: OWN it instead of just consuming, consuming, consuming the next hot trend.

I LOVE this lace cardigan/ white shirt combo. I am not a fan of the way the shirt falls. As a consumer I would buy it if it were more modest. I'd feel as though I had to wear a body suit underneath. There's a fine line (for everyday girls) between coyly sexy and outright trashy. Your clothing choices are fine though because of your job. But if you're trying to appeal to your fans I'd say add that Rumi touch but make it more modest. I would not feel comfortable with the side of my bra out, all of my back and possibly my boobs if I move to quickly.

anne said...

my god a few of you people are venomous. even if you don't like something, I think there's a big difference between expressing that thought honestly yet respectfully, versus cutting someone down with glee.

regardless of rumi's level of talent or "un-talent," people who revel in cutting down other people never build themselves up in the process.

the triad top is amazing! I've loved it since the first time I saw you wearing it! as you said, is a piece that you could wear with everythin but it's not so simple as a classical vest or tank. a great amazing piece!

geisharock said...

I love the back of the tank but I can't say I'm a fan of the front or the sides of it. Are those deliberate holes cut out in the strap area at the front? Hmm.. Can't wait to see what else you've designed though :)

Do the Ashish boots run true to size? I think we are basically the same shoe size (EU37-37.5) and I was wondering what UK size you took in these (I'm usually a topshop UK4 but I thought I'd ask)

My opinion hardly matters BUT I must say I:

A) also would love to hear tips on how you can wear such high heels...please :)

and

B) you aren't too skinny. You are like really skinny but your arms look like they have some definition...you're just very slight through the ribcage, it's an elegant look. I don't think you look sick or emaciated or anything like that.

My two cents!
