frenching

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Kristin took this photo a few months ago when we were playing around with different ways to braid/flip/render asymmetry. Probably impossible to execute without enlisting another human's help but most definitely a fun style to wear. The main reason I'm posting a photo of the back of my head though - I've gotten some questions about the way I've been braiding my hair lately, which I've been doing solely to get my bangs out of the equation because they're at that infamous in-between stage. All it is is a small French braid that I extend halfway down and pin in place, either to one side or both. Seriously the easiest thing ever, I wouldn't do it if it took longer than 30 seconds.

That's really funny because my bangs are also at the in-between stage, and I've been braiding my bangs to the side--I've probably been subconsciously doing after looking at your pictures. Oh, some people are too cute! I totally know what you mean by 10 (if that) second job to braid your fringe back.I can see why your friend wanted to braid your hair, you have that full/thick hair that holds french braids well and your colour tones really enhance the braid. A tip for you blog followers: If your hair is highlighted the braids will stand out more so you have a slight advantage, braids always look great in highlighted hair! If your hair is one tone make sure it's rih in colour and shiny (not oily). This will make you braids look so much better!!!

P.S Rumi, Great blog. You truly, really do do a great job. You're not just a pretty face with great eccentric style, you actually know how to write as well. Props to your man for the photos too :)

Yea, Rumi, I too, was wondering what you thought of the new Emma Cook for Topshop boots?

Your blog is a microcosm for America and please, let me explain. You've got your standard megalomaniac at the top (that being you) leading the masses of simple minded, sycophants, who essentially operate as megaphones for everything you say and do. You talk about your indecisiveness over, say, your inadequacies as a person and the sea of the blind, amplify their personal inadequacies so they can "totally relate." You'll just grow larger and larger, will the individual minds of the collective grow smaller and smaller. It is quite depressing really.

God Bless America, wherever you may be.
And long live the one eyed man.

Ignore the mean Anon, Rumi- that is, if you aren't doing so already.

I like the fact that you've let your flyaway hairs remain as they are in the pic- sometimes it's way too much effort to make it all sleek and perfect, and even though I don't think I'll ever grow out my fringe, braids are a great way to add some texture to a hairstyle.

Blue Floppy Hat said...

PS: Also, I hope you and your friends/family aren't anywhere near the wildfire areas...take care!

Anon7:09- what the fuck are you talking about? I feel all that person did was look up a couple of big words in the dictionary and put a sentence together to make themselves sound smart...

Anon8:51- you think there is something weird about people commenting on a blog post about hair, and you find it wrong, but yet you decided to contribute to the amount of comments on this post....yeah ok, smart move. >_>

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rumi, one of the many things I love about you is that you don't care about what others think, you dust your shoulders off and keep on doing your thing. Wish more people were like you. ;)
Anonymous Coward said...
@ Champagne:
I don't think it's weird or wrong to leave comments on a post about hair. Posts are made to be commented on.
I just think it's stupid and redundant to leave the same comments repeatedly. But lambs will be lambs. They follow along. Even someone as vain and conceited as Rumi must get tired of reading the same mindless dribble that is left on her blog, post after post.
Personally, I think Anon's are the saving grace of the comment section. Heh.
