(BCBG dress, Noir bracelet, Alexander Wang bag, Bebe boots)

The BCBG show was beautiful..I of course loved the tiny dresses with mesh slashed across them but also stunning were the plays on tshirt dresses, thick black paneling layered over prints, and the pairing of neon and gray. My favorite has to have been the draped white minidress and I know I'm not alone on that one..there was an audible collective gasp when the sequin detailing in the back became visible.

I for one don't mind Rumi's "predictability" because it works for me. I don't need to see somebody trying something absolutely different every single day. Like most people I don't have the time to do that either and I like seeing how a simple look can be pulled together from a few key pieces.

I feel like the biggest thing I've learned from this blog is that with a few simple changes (adding tights, or different shoes or a unique necklace) an outfit can go from OK to rockin'. that's something I can apply to my everyday life. and that's why I come here, to keep getting those ideas about how to put it together without taking a million hours. thanks for that rumi!

In response to the above anonymous posts, I'll repeat my favorite Jenny Holzer quote:

'HABITUAL CONTEMPT DOESN'T REFLECT A FINER SENSIBILITY.'

So don't be stupid. It's easy to say negative things, particularly in the shadows of anonymity. And it doesn't make you any better than that whom you are speaking of. Rumi is doing what she does and if you don't like it, why waste your time? Clearly she's doing something right because you are still reading. Just saying.

Alexandra said...

Hi Rumi, just a question- who makes your tights? They remind me of the ones that Vera is always wearing :)

Alexandra said...

--or anyone who may know!

@ feelmore

People, like myself, who post comments, post because we have something to say. What we have to say doesn't always have to positive but it isn't necessarily negative. When I see someone who has the "number one blog on blogger" I am going to come with a very critical eye, and see what's going on. It is my right.

I am also going to come down heavy when I read dozens of mindless comments talking about how "cool" her t-shirt, tights and platform combos are; the level of blind faith and stupidity in America frightens me and sometimes it necessary to have someone that doesn't participate in this cancerous group think.

Alexandra said...

umm....is this really the number one blog???

What constitutes a number one blog? The amount of posts (the time the author spends on the blog) or the amount of followers/links to the blog?

In any case, that's interesting.

Feelmore said...

@anonymous

Very well put and point taken. Thank you very much for leaving this post, I really appreciate the response.

I suppose my issue isn't with the negative comments, as critical thinking is crucial - particularly in this day and age where we generally do not question any form of media, mainstream or not. But it would be nice to have an identity associated with any critical thoughts as I feel like this actually helps to validify said statements. And it's not that I necessarily disagree with the statements made, either. It's just that I'd prefer to see a dialogue and I personally feel as though it's easier for this to happen when those involved have equal presence.

(However, I do understand that there is potential personal backlash once an identity is involved so I choose not to stand behind my statement with full obtusity, as really, it's to each their own.)

One more thing, while I'm still on this soapy soapy box that most likely no one will see. =)

Having been in the modeling industry myself for way too many years, it is refreshing to see girls who are not models taking on fashion personalities that have previously been only granted to models, actresses, and the occasional socialite. True, the level of personality added to an 'icon' may be limited, but it's still nice to see people claiming presence for themselves, based on initiative and ingenuity, however arguable these may be. In my opinion, modeling should really not be given the glorification it receives, as I've always had a problem with this type of awe and glory. Once bestowed, it wipes away any additional ambition which I find sad as modeling, at the most, should be a jumping off point, not an end goal.

Once again, whomever you are, I really really appreciate your comments. It makes me very happy to find a response as it demonstrates a solid thought process behind your ideas and this is what a dialogue is really all about.

Cheers!

What is wrong with your make-up? It looks horrid. Especially that 2nd photo. You look super pale with a lip color that is ALL wrong for your shading. Come on, Rumi. Seriously!!

Anonymous said...

I love the back of this dress but how the front fabric falls around your stomach makes you look poochy and pregnant. Really not flattering. And I hate those boots. They make your legs look stumpy and thick... cankle city... I hated them as YSLs and I still hate them as knockoffs. Love the bracelet.
