summer love salty hands open road

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Flipping through an old issue of Purple magazine on Friday, I was riveted by this page immediately upon sight. British designer Clare Tough is responsible for the rainbow open knit next-to-nothings and accompanying blankety sweater. Perfect for getting cozy on the sand as the sun sets or bringing along for a road trip to nowhere in particular. There's something so strangely sexy about knits as the first layer on your skin, no?

I love knits like that! They totally remind me of my godmother who actually has a bunch of blankets with those same kinds of patterns.

Absolutely! I've always thought so!

I looove the chunky sweater. I want to ask my grandma to make me one, but whenever I say that to my boyfriend he tries to accuse me of supporting sweatshops. EYE ROLL.

What a beautiful jumper, it seems almost so trampy and so impractical that makes it perfect. I love rediscovering all my favourite editorials and designers in old magazines.

more itchy than sexy, unless my sexy you mean pulling off the sweater and undies because of the itch?!

I love the image, and the idea is so good, but wearing knits against your skin is so uncomfortable! I wish I could pull it off =[

This is excellent. Knitwear is the ultimate. I love the peculiar mix of skimpiness and warmth.

Rumi, I'd be so grateful if you'd take a look at my blog. I'm a childlike twenty year old from London with a passion for tea from teapots, charming underwear, beautiful music and unfairly expensive sportswear. You can find me at:

Um... my mother made my brother and i matching bedspreads that looked JUST like this and I had to give them to goodwill 2 years ago.

Honestly, I couldn't imagine wearing this outfit, although it looks like a lot people love it. I would just feel like I was wearing a bedspread. All those holes will keep it from being warm.

(Should I mention she made little purses like this as b-day party favors back in 3rd grade, too? Too bad, she'd make a bundle selling them, now!!)

I have a family heirloom blanket crocheted by my great-great-grandmother that looks SO similiar to this! I'd fashion it into some sort of jumper if it wasn't such family sacrilege...

As a fashion designer and textile artist I am offended.

Pay attention, people!
