(Unionbay jacket, Levi's shorts)
Colin and I are in frenzied squirrel mode packing and getting all those zillion last minute things done - our flight to Paris is tomorrow and I'm exciiiited. Though figuring out how to pack for temperatures that are about half what they are here is freaking me out a little bit. It's really a shame on the suitcase front that everything wooly, fuzzy, and even vaguely warm is hopelessly bulky, especially when massive wedges are being prioritized. What better time to get all my nostalgic Americana outfit desires out of the way, right? This fur hood I detached from a jacket I haven't worn for a few years much to Colin's amusement..I kind of love it.
If you have any recommendations for shops or restaurants in Paris please share! I haven't been since a family trip that shopping-wise only extended to Printemps, Agnes B., and H&M.

enjoy PARIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am in LOVE with your fuzzy hood. I've wanted one for ages but it's just not ever on my top priority list to search for one. Boo, what a damn shame. Don't you just love packing though? I adore arranging all my clothes/shoes and packing them in a suit case. It's a disturbing material love thing haha.
+ It seems everyone and their moms are going to paris but me ToT. I get to go to london to take my boyfriend home. So I'll make him take me while we're there haha.
mwah <3, China L.
Furry hood ! It looks pretty darn cool, and I really like those shorts. I'm sure you and COlin will have fun in Paris, eh ? :)
I don't love the denim on denim look, but I love the furrrrr..
Oh, and remember that Paris will be even colder than you think, because it's not on the coast. I froze all the time when I was there..
http://labelleetlaitgirl.wordpress.com
cute outfit
love the denim and fur combination
i love the denim jacket, shorts and furry hat.
Collin is always doing a good job in photography.

Rumi remember that cold in Paris is not that bad! haha :)
gotta share with you some cool places you gotta go if you have time!: you totally CAN'T miss a bakery called La durée! it's so chic and beautiful and very famous in there! Angelina is a cool place to lunch and the macarons (kind of typocal cookis) are soo good in there. More restaurants.. Lapérouse! in le quartier latin you'll totally love it! miu miu ads where taken there few seasons ago and it's the oldest restaurant in Paris! If you can go out at night i trully recommed you Le Baron. Shopping... the Christian Louboutin boutique @ 38 rue grenelle! of course can't miss the trendy Colette! just troll around Faubourg Saint-Honoré or Saint-Germain!
have fun Rumii!!

Love Sanne
Have fun there! And I love this outfit!
hi there,
parisian blogger (and friend) julie from bloc-mode is participating on this fashion map, it's...
http://bloc-mode.com/?p=1013
you'll have a great time. personally, after london and new york, i'm fashion week'd out. but next time i'll definitely be in paris for fashion week.
Have fun at paris!!!!
I love the combination denim and fur :)
You HAVE to go to Lafayette! I've been there last November, it's amazing. And near Notre Dame in the "quartier Latin" there are some vintage shops.
Enjoy Paris ;)
PARIS :
Rue TIQUETONNE - 75002 (Metro Etienne Marcel)
Tons of cute boutiques, cafes, et Vintage stores (Killiwatch in particuliar) then up the street you have all the denim brands (including All Saints)
And right before All Saints turn left, go to 22 Rue des Victoires and head to the secret L'eclaireur store (there are no signs to get in, just a buzzer)
Then you can head to Le Marais. Make sure you go to Precursor (www.weareprecursor.com).
A british boutique, Rue des blancs Manteaux. (Metro Hotel de Ville)
If you are in Montmartre head to Pigalle
http://www.highsnobiety.com/news/2008/10/03/pigalle-paris-opens-its-doors/
The new Hi & Lo hipster store.
If you need more ideas, Hit me up !
Cheers
S.
You look uber cute in that fur hat!
Shops that I myself would like to visit in Paris: 'Didier Ludot' (vintage haute couture), L'Habilleur (designer labels for less), Dépôt-Vente de Buci-Bourbon (vintage & second hand designer stuff), Mouton à cinq pattes (vintage designer & last seasons collections).
For bargain bucket cheapness try 'Tati' or 'Monoprix'.
I personally think that the most exciting places to find treasures is at the flea markets, there's a few of them in Paris, 'Marche aux Puces de St-Quen' is reportedly Europes largest one.
Have a great time & I hope you get excellent weather for going walkabout, the best way to appreciate this stunning city in my opinion.
colette
metro tuileries
rue faubourg saint-honoré
galeries lafayette
metro chaussée d'antin la fayette
boulevard haussmann
You are going to love your time in Paris, for sure!
My favourite stores are probably the well known Colette, and Free P Star, which is the best vintage shop ever, and you can find it in Le Marais, Rue de Saint Croix de la Bretonnerie (I think th best metro station is Hòtel de Ville). There is also a nice restaurant in that area, called Le Monjul, in Rue des Blancs Manteaux. And for drinks, I love rue Oberkampf.
Have lots of fun!
I know you love your massive wedges :) but I really would recommend a pair of flats or really comfortable shoes, because Paris = LOTS of walking. Throw in a pair just in case - they don't take up much space and I'm sure they'll be useful!
Have a wonderful time à Paris...
kiliwatch is the worst vintage store, if you like really ugly 50s mumus priced at 70 euros by all means go there.
God, I'm so happy for you... Have lots of fun in Paris!!!
Love the hood by the way, and the first pic is just amazing!!!! Colin is such a good photographer!
The texas tuxedo is so well done.. I really like the fact that you're wearing shorts instead of trousers. I'm totally obsessed with denim right not so this totally works for me...
Again, I hope you have a great time in Paris! Good luck!!!
ohh you will have a blast! you HAVE to head down to the Marais, fab shops around there, as well as galleries (check out the picasso one). You have to go to Collette. You will love it and spend a fortune in there!!! have a safe trip xoxo
www.fashionistadiary.co.uk
http://www.laduree.com/public_en/actualites/actualites_laduree_bar.htm - the most beautiful place EVER. Also, this is a great site for all things 'nice' http://www.urbanpath.com/paris/. Places around Montmartre are ALL divine.
Have a great time!
x
ha i love the title...my family went last year and all they told me is they really needed comfortable shoes because Paris = lots of walking. Although comfortable to you has way more boundaries. I can't wait for the pictures...will you be blogging over there....though totally understandable if you don't.
I have a similar hat only in white =P so cute! Have a great trip to paris since i've only been there when i was 8years old and restrict al the vacations to disneyworld! have fun* * *
Printemps is very very cool! you definitely have to go there. Les galeries Lafayettes are also pretty nice ( but search for the real! I think there're about 3 in paris. but the real and original are next to printemps). Another brand you definitely gotta check out is Comptoir Des Cotonniers. But I don't know if you have that in america anyway..
hope I could help you a little ;)
Drooling over that fur hat/hood!
I have a thing for that kinda headwear :)
Enjoy Paris, you lucky lucky girl!
I'm sure I won't be the first to say.. Colette!!
Have a great time.. be sure to show us some winter/Europe outfits.
OMG you look so great in you denim !
love your image so great !
You will definitely need to wrap up warm, that hat will come in handy for sure.
And I love the last picture of you, denim on denim is definitely growing on me.
Have a fantastic time in paris, although I know you will.
x
Hello ! Just one thing for Paris : It's rainy here today so pack an umbrella or something !
usually i would hiss at the two denim combo.
but it actually works!!! :)
love the fur hood... hope its not real...
keep up the great dressing doll.
http://aforteforfashion.blogspot.com
You wear that tuxedo perfectly lady!!! I love love love the first shot with the hat!!
No suggestions for Paris go-sees/to's as the last time I was there was in 2001 and I hardly think my suggestions would be of the moment ;)
BUT HAVE SUCH A BLAST and you know we can't wait to hear (and see) about all of it!!!
Tell Garance I think she's amazing, if you end up meeting up with her :)
xx
wow. i love your blog, you dress really nice!
You should visit Laduree in Champs Elysses, delicious sweets. Le Bar du Plaza Athenee is great to drink something before party. And I ALWAYS ALWAYS visit Christian Louboutin Store in RUe Jean Jacques Rousseau, is really near of Louvre. Enjoy Paris. Kiss
rumi beauty girl.
you will have a blast. the energy will be so infectious and amazing.
i'd say laduree, collette, isabel marant, and all the vintage places you can find would be on my list.
can't wait to see some great pics.
x
m
You wear FUR?
I totally lost my interest in you right now.
Girl, you dress amazing. But I'm absolutely against people wearing fur. Why not buy a fake fur hat? You're not more 'fashionable' if you wear fur...
Go to colette it's great ,rue saint Honoré
That is an awesome fur coat! Magnifique! Have fun and can't wait to see the photos from your adventures!
Wow.. you look amazing girl :)
The fur hood is so cute..really like it.
thanks 4 a GREAT blog Rumi!
take care!

visit my blog at:

you should go to Fauchon. it's not a clothing store, it's like a gourment food store, but it's pretty cool and has some history behind it.
Amazing shorts. You must be the only one able to wear denim on denim! And much fun in Paris of course. My Paris-plans changed a bit, I'm going the end of April.
aww that furry hood is so cute<3
well, if you haven't heard already, champs elysees! cliche, maybe, but you can find a bunch of stuff! especially if you go into the places where there are other shops in the "mall". huge strip w/ the arc de triomphe at the end, or beginning, depending on where you start. i was just there in february and it rained everyday but i loved it! cold for sure, so bundle up! and i learned, no suede footwear, duh right? have fun!!
This outfit is so fun! Love that hat thing too. My child-sized head can't support something like that, unfortunately. I wish I could remember all the great stores from when I was there, but if you have any time you should go to les Jardins de Luxembourg and Parc Monceau - they're just beautiful and inspiring.
Denim should always be worn with fur! & with a lil' diamonds and pearls never hurt either.
* love that look *
Have fun in Paris!
As i told you, if you need some advices for shops, restaurants or fw partys in Paris, send me a mail at kenzasmg@gmail.com
xx
And i forgot the best place in Paris for everything is the district of "Le Marais", i live here, it's awesome !
There are all the best shops, all the best vintage shops, all the most beautiful places, and lot of young people.
check out the macarons at laduree that's for sure:)
also try galeries lafayette and colette.
if you're intending to pick up some chanel it'd probably be cheaper than the us too because of rebates.
and if u have time do check out montmartre as well...it's really charming. im sure you'll have a great trip and i can't wait to see the photos! :)
Have Fun!
I have often been to Paris and I would strongly recommend you to take a look in Colette, a very stylish store that sells some amazing stuff, including the top designers, almost like a fashion show. And there is a cool café there too :)
Address: 213 RUE SAINT-HONORÉ
Enjoy!
Btw, amazing pictures, always nice to see some chlothing changes ^^
LOVE that first profile shot, stunning-right out of an editorial!
Ahh Rumi, have a safe & wonderful trip to Paris! I can't wait to see you & Colin's always amazing photos from such a beautiful place!
xoxo
i'll be heading to paris soon, so ready for it, i have to get out of new york city for a while, and cute hunter hat.

here is the link
http://blog.justjr.com/archives/2009/03/paris-guide-09/
I've never been to Paris, but I'm sure you'll love it! Have fun!
I'm loving my fur-trimmed hat lately too.. brrr. Only you could pull of the denim x denim look.. terrible, but yet cute!
Dont forget to eat Macaroons and drink tea in LaDurée (though there are ALWAYS queues in this restaurant/cafe, it's absolutely worth it!
For some unforgettable shopping experience head to Le Marais! Rue Vieille du Temple is a must go ;)
Good journey!
Ladurée in the Madeleine area is the best for tea and macarons, but i LOVE Noura for Lebanese food that is to-die-for without breaking the bank. don't forget to indulge in my favorite past-time in Paris: sidewalk cafes in Marais and St-Germain.
Go here to Free "P" Star
I went last year, it really lives up to all the hype. But it gets really crowded.
Also, some of the best food I had was street food. My friend and I had the best lunch ever, just munching on crepes(Sorry, I can't make the accent).
Also go to the Palais de Tokyo. It has a restaurant and cool art exhibits. It's super close to the Eiffel Tower.
Be careful and carry your bag close. A couple kids I know got pick-pocketed on the Metro.
PS. Dress warm, it gets cold at night.
PSS.Don't do the Bateaux-Mouches at night. ( I did, I was freezing!)
Hello from France, i would have wanted to see you in reality so much, you impress me so much !
So if you go to Paris, go to Le quartier du marais (métro : Saint-Paul, Hôtel de Ville, Rambuteau & Arts et Métiers), you have a lot of secondhand stores !
Plus, one of the best part of paris is : Châtelet (châtelet les halles, with a big H&M & Zara, with a big New look (métro : Châtelet), for luxe stores you can go to Champs Elysée, avenue Georges V (juste next to les Champs Elysées), anyways you will find a lot of luxe stores next to the Effeil tower & les Champs Elysées !
I hope i help you & you can find all the métro station in the site : http://www.ratp.info/orienter/cv/carteparis.php (interactive map).
Je t'embrasse et bonnes vacances à Paris ! (I kiss you & have a nice trip in Paris)

amusez-vous allez
there is a little boutique near the jardins du luxembourg...the lady there sells a few of her own pieces in addition to other designers like vanessa bruno.
but she makes the prettiest little dresses and tops out of.....VINTAGE SILK SCARVES!!! They aren't cheap...approx 200-300euros. But when I was there in Jan, I was.....very tempted!
I would not be surprised if she had a few vintage hermes babies in there as well. Let me see if I brought back a card so I can get you the name.
Have a lovely time, Rumi! Please keep us alive (in the Montreal winter currently) with hot hot Paris photos!
love, xoxx

http://lacoquette.blogs.com/la_coquette/shopping/
Definitely check out Chez Mamie near Pigalle metro. It's vintage heaven! It's a really tiny 2-storey store but it is literally JAM PACKED with amazing vintage pieces....in amazing condition.
Have fun!! :)

can you tell how much Paris excites me?!!?! :)
and make sure you lunch at ROSE BAKERY!
Love pants.
Hi Rumi! It's the first time I write you, but I felt it was compulsory. You MUST go to La Durée and try their macarons, they r the best thing in Paris ever, really!!! better than the shopping, hehehe. Have a great time! kisses from Barcelona
Love that hood--you'll be very happy to have it in Paris to battle the cold!
Somehow you make a denim outfit work-AMAZING. I would look like an absolute fucktard if I tried this...
i love paris!!! i wish i could go there noww but i cant, however i went there many times and all i have to say is GALERIES LAFAYETTE. just this ;p oh also theres a really nice shopping district around centre pompidou and a really huge mall called "les halles" its near the pompidou center, and it has almost every shop from h&m to new look and zara and all the others :p
xxx
Paris is so amazing! and im sure it will be crazy weather wise this time of year, but still beautiful of course!
definitely check out Laduree...you won't regret that!
and i suggest the weekend flea market at metro stop: Porte de Clignancourt..once you get past the fake coach and LV you can find the vintage/antique section which is realy amazing! The have a lot of crazy bags, sunglasses, jewelry and vintage chanel, hermes etc :)
theres also great falafel and shopping Le Marais section of Paris :)
Have a kick ass trip! (so jealous btw)
Oh and that fur hood is ingenious!
That picture is so beautiful it actually hurts!
You look so amazingly gorgeous & the pretty bokeh just adds to it.
I think you must be the only person who can pull off a denim jacket & denim shorts together.
Amazing, as usual
hola!
have a great time in paris, just got back from it!!!
definitely go to Le 66 in Champs Elysees!
www.le-66.com
have fun and enjoy!!!!
You are wonderful. seriously you look stunning :)
Have fun in Paris sweety.
-A.
love this. i thought that fur hood thing was from urban outfitters cause they had one almost exactly like that, and i tried it on and couldn't quite work it like you can. way to use old jackets!
Paris is so beautiful! Enjoy your trip :)
www.citonamarie.blogspot.com
ahhh the fur hood is just toooo good.
you should try wearing a leotard under your sweaters! It doesn't add any bulk but is surprisingly good at adding warmth!
so excited for you - definitely go to the galleries lafayette! and eat there. one of the freshest, reasonably priced lunches you can get in the city.
kiss for safe travels!
will you be blogging from there???
d
Just spotted this gem on e-bay you posted about earlier... clearly too big for you, but perhaps a good seamstress can make magic for you?

Go to the Chanel there, to die x
oh, and check out Faubourg Saint Honore
Hey Rumi, I am a devoted fan of your style and your writing - but I can't forgive the fur hat. The fur/denim combo is decidedly innovative, but fake fur would work just as well...and wouldn't involve small animals being skinned alive and thrown into a wood chipper. You seem like you like animals, as evidenced by your pictures with your cats and strangers' dogs - so why not extend that love to the equally cute bunnies, minks, dogs (raccoon dogs are commonly used for fur and often deliberately mislabeled as "raccoon"), etc. who certainly have a lot in common with your cuddly pets? You wouldn't skin and wear your cat, would you?
You influence so many people with your blog, so I hope that you'll give some serious thought to what you want to promote. Doesn't the extreme suffering involved in fur bother you?
I hope you have an amazing trip!!!
love the fur hood, but hate denim paired with denim!
I think the fur hoodie is quite brilliant...esp paired with your denim. Have an amazing time in Paris, and if u can make a fairly short train trip to London....I think you'll have a crazy good time shopping in Camden and Spitalfields Markets!
Btw, just wanna say I'm new to the whole fashion blogger world,...and yours is one of the top, TOP blogs that inspired me to start my own. So thanks so much, Rumi!
Wish I was going to Paris! From what I remember it's a really cool city, I want to go back one day. Have fun!
Check out our post on Paris. Enjoy!

Go to Bon Marché. it is like a fashion museum...

Paris:

I believe what you are wearing is called a CANADIAN tuxedo. Please, let's not let Texas take credit for something so awesome.
Can't wait to see your outfits in Paris! Have a great time there! xxoxoxoxoxoxo
Paris?
I did a few helpful posts about it on my travel/fashion blog:
www.wander-lusting.blogspot.com
You're so lucky to go - I was going to go back for my third visit this year but money and time off work got short. DAMN ALL MY SHOPPING.
Have a fab time.
PS I despise most denim on denim looks but you can pull off anything so I'm not suprised I like it on you :)
PPS - it is NOT a CANADIAN TUXEDO - the term TEXAS came first. And I have yet to see ANYONE in Canada wear denim head to toe. Except Albertans
I live in Pariiiis :D
You should definitly go to the Printemps, the Galeries Lafayettes and all the shops surrounding it in the "Opera" area, le Marais (nice little shops out there), les Champs Elysées, rue de Rennes, Bonmarché, faubourg St Honoré, Boulevard Haussmann...Different types of shops but all very nice :D St Honoré is very expensive but so "chic français"(Hermès, Tods...) whereas the Marais is a little more relaxed :)Champs Elysées, Printemps and Lafayette are more of the "classic have to"-thing and rue de Rennes is pretty neutral: Zara, h&m, Mango...
Last thing: HAVE FUN !! Hope you'll enjoy my city :) <3
Love from Paris :D
Hey there a re a few really good vintage stores in Paris; Kiliwatch, Fripestar and some that I can't remember the name of but they are all in the area around the Pompideu centre.
I got an amazing fur cape for TEN euros from fripestar and it is about half fur, then other exceptionally cool dresses and things. The dresses sometimes need taking up but they are all excellent, and there are shoes that aren't all teeny tiny like vintage shoes tend to be!
Happy shopping! xxxx
you MUST go to l'as du falafel in the jewish quarter of the marais. it's on rue de rosiers. it is by far the most popular place to eat on a sunday afternoon, with the best shawarma on the planet.
also, cafe la perle in the marais, is a super hip, supper yummy little fashion enclave. its on rue de la perle. great art deco fixings and the best croissants i've ever eaten!
as for art, you must see the jimmie durham show at le musee de l'art modern, it is right next to la palais de tokyo, a top contemporary art space.
as for the best macaroons, LADUREE. there is a store near colette on rue saint honore, and one in saint germain by eglise saint germain. be prepared to wait in line, but these are divine and must be had.
just a few little tidbits from a recent trip.
bon voyage!
That's a really good way of getting more wear out of something - just selecting the part you like.
Ahh you have to go to colette!
http://thestitched.blogspot.com
if you take the train to hotel de ville and walk around the actual building you should find a vintage shop that has no sign or anything . sorry for the vague description but its amazing amazing vintage!
off course Colette, in case you haven't read it like a million times above
it is really a magical city you'll love it!
the Marais, is a neighbourhood, tons of vintage.
*bisous*
i can't imagine how hard it must be to pack for warm weather with the freaking tiny ass suitcases they allow. =/ i wish the weight limit were different.
It's not really shopping but check out the bouquinistes along the Seine near Notre Dame! They sell some really cool books and postcards and stuff.
Also, have a chocolate crepe. Nothing better.
definitely go to gallerias lafayette. AMAZING shopping. It's like a mega mall of designer wear. There is also an amazing jewelery store called Folli Folli, and don't forget to visit Isabel Marant FOR SURE. The Chanel near the arch de triumph is the best I have ever been to too!
ahh your packing situation is the same for me. I hate it! I'm trying to pack up my whole life for when I move back to Australia and it seriously sucks.
Have an amazing time in Paris.

Paris is lovely, enjoy every minute of it!
I live in Belgium, so I'm used to the temperature. Pack as much leggings and tights as you possibly can. You're lucky though, it's getting a little warmer ;) At least it's not freezing any more.
Hey, I hope you'll have a great time in Paris.
This is by far the best city of the entire world ^^
But be sure that your beloved wedges allow you to walk along the streets because in Paris you actually WALK, and WALK and WALK ...
Maybe this is the reason french women are thin ( honestly, this is one of the first things I noticed, no one is fat in France ) Unbelievable...
Anyway, enjoy :)
i looove denim on denim on you, pretty rumi.
hope you and your guy have an amazing time in paris!
you have to go to Collette of course! and there are some designer vintage shops around that area that i think are worth checking out. oh and the food in paris! hard to get bad food--unless you only hang out in the tourist/club trap near st. germain.
not to sound nosey, but i will, how long have you and colin been together? you guys seem like two peas in a pod!
Rumi --
First shot = STUNNING, I want "a Colin" =] hahah
Have fun, bring me back a Chocolate croissant and some Chanel?? ;]
photo #1: would be BEAUTIFUL if cropped so that it's a closeup of your face
photo #2: TOTAL 90s ad for denim. which is a good thing.
Have an amazing time!
those are wicked shorts!!!!
did you cut them yourself?
rumi, i live in paris!! all the shopping tips above are definitely the best. in terms of where you should eat....check out KONG on the top floor of the kenzo buiding near pont neuf (metro line 7). its great french/japanese fusion, and the atmosphere is one of the best in paris because its just a big window room at the top! you have the best views!! its also where carrie ate in the last episode of sex and the city!
enjoy paris! I love it there. Go to Etam. Its like the french version of forever 21.
soo random question...what are your feelings on lame leggings?? are you digging them or feel as though one would appear to be wearing a wet suit?
i am so excited for you to go to paris and share your experience (and outfits) with us!! have funnn
The fuzzy hood is ne plus ultra!
Make that two chocolate croissants...
you will die die die in collette
have fun in paris! i guess besides all the usual touristy stuff, i haven no suggestions. =(
Hope you have a crazy awesome time! Don't forget to do jump shots over the Paris skyline at the top of Montparnasse!
the title matches the look well. I hear this is what they wear to weddings in texas. paris is a distant dream of mines. have fun.

les puces de st ouen!! les puces de st ouen!!
best parisian flea market out there.
there's a lot of cheap junk, but if you look at the back area, you will die. It's amazing to see, even if you don't buy anything. Vintage Chanel GALORE.

Happy to see that someone else already mentioned my favorite spot, L'as du falafel. It's Lenny Kravitz' fave too! Just a little stand in the Marais but great for a quick bite.
rumii! i hope you have an amazing time, enjoy paris twice as much for me lol. the jean on jean action is actually pretty cool! i think you pull it off very well...but seriously, i can't wait to see what you will wear in paris!
xxxxxcat
definitelllly go to l'entrecote in the 7th. i forget the exact address but im sure you and colin can find it. it's ONLY steak and the best at that. caviar kaspia is amazing...but prepare for princess dining and royally painful prices. Go to emmy franck!! wonderful store!! and they are very very very nice!! and im sure that you will like, since i have a sense of your style from your pictures, heimstone. DEFINITELY go to heimstone!!
I lived in paris for 6 months and it was amazing...restaurants: anahï, le petit marché in le marais, tokyo eat at le palais de tokyo, cafe angelina for hot chocolate, laduree for macarons, le relais de entrecôte (if you like steak and fries) and so many more. im jealous!
love the combination of denim and fur. such an inspiration.
enjoy paris! :)
LOVELY....njoy!!!

Have fun in Paris! Am incredibly jealous! I have a few favourite stores, but they don't seem like your style (Dries Van Noten being #1), that 'squirrel hood' is tres chouette! ;)
xx
this might sound very odd to you but...i want that hood and would buy it for whatever price...i am like in a fur frenzy right now plus a hood...plus silk lining...trifecta!!!
or keep it whatever...but just know it is like amazing...
okay bye.
Bonjour Rumi!
I am so jealous of your upcoming Paris trip! I have to wait until June to get back there. It's my adopted second home. Can't get enough of that culture (err and the pain au chocolates!)
I think you would have a LOT of fun in the Marais district. It's a really fun neighborhood (totally ooooozes that more rustic Parisian chic) and is chock full of quirky little vintage shops, some cheap and some more expensive. I found tons of cool menswear things there to incorporate into my wardrobe, like baggy semi-tailored vests, and there are tons of frocks and leather satchels to be found. There's one shop I have in mind particularly, but I'll have to check with my French pals for the name.
There are lots of more recognizable shops by the Opera and a few really good malls (I know, the thought is not so appealing but they have some little French chains stores that are worth a look), I think Le Halles is one of them. If you're in a perma-money-saving mode like my seventeen-year-old self is, New Look is a British store in Paris that has LOTS of runway-inspired looks and is very up on the upcoming. I got a fabueirkwadskjfasd leather-like bomber there long before they trickled into Urban Outfitters and the like.
And the Paris climate at this time of the year can be a little (but only sporadically) rainy from my experience, but it's perfect wispy scarf and chunky leather boot weather. It also presents you with an opportunity to be an adorable American girl in Paris with a big red umbrella.
HAVE FUN!
EAT LOTS OF AMAZING FOOD AND OH! GO TO THE FASHION MUSEUM! YOU MUST MUST MUST GO. I believe the name is just Fashion Museum translated into French, like Musee du Mode or something French-ish like that. There's another awesome museum that is actually just the mansion of this man who was OBSESSED with Marie Antoinette and her social circle and smothered his home with furniture inspired by or acquired from the French royal family at that time. Definitely worth a look.
Oh dear this is long.
x, Lydia
rumi you're so brave to pull off the furry hat look. lol. In other news I have some Balmain-inspired shoes from Zara which I think you would appreciate
if you happen to be incredibly bored - they're on my blog:

Just got back from Paris on Monday. Cold and damp (and I live in NYC) - need hat and gloves, but strangely got warmer at night, wore cashmere and leather jacket. WEll it seems like youre definetely going to Laduree - have the pain perdu (French toast) - there are no words! I agree with most of the suggestions except two huge disappointments - Colette - what an overrated piece of crap store - all surface no substance, every jerk likes to congregate there - you live near SF no? so youre familiar with all those little hiphop sneaker stores, add a little barneys and thats colette. Maria luisa much better for much the same name brands. Also, Palais de Tokyo - what a joke! For 6 euro you can get electrocuted - I kid you not, thats all there is too the art exchibit at the moment - some riff on the conspiracy theories about the north pole. This is what all the jokes about contemporary art are made of. And I brought Louboutins and never wore them - way too much walking! And tell me if you agree or not, but the lady announcing the metro stops is the sexiest thing ever!
Hey Rumi, I discovered your blog through garance's one and I like what you do with your old stuff:)To shop in Paris, you can go to a little pink boutique that is called "Brand bazaar" it's // to “bon marché”
Or to lavalleevillage (the web site: www.lavalleevillage.com) plus, if you suscribe to the website you get 10% more off famous brands.
also "La rue de renne" is a shopping street (metro montparnasse) or strasbourg saint denis (it's also the name of the metro station) for vaious non-famous shops but you can find great things and for the oulets you can go to "le sentier".
Also there is a sunday market at porte de clignacourt...
I hope I helped;)
I'll be in paris too from the 15th to the 19th , enjoy your stay;)
For coffe : Le Rival - Avenue Georges 5
Le Café de l'homme - 17 place du trocadéro
For sushi : Le Bound - Avenue Georges 5
For breakfast : Ladurée, and the Ritz.
Enjoy your stay in Paris.
xx

La puce in paris
You'll get used to the cold quickly, so it's not that bad. I've been in December. Just wear a warm underlayer & tights, and you could even get away with shorts & boots that way.
Too many stores to recommend! Just wander & enjoy. If you like thrift shopping though definitely go to the flea market!
Really good cafés on Boulevard Voltaire if you're wandering (there is a paper store there that I LOVE).
Bon Voyage!
haha... love the canadian suit!
cute outfit :) have fun in Paris, i'm so jealous!
have fun in Paris <3
have fun in Paris <3
have fun in Paris <3
have fun in Paris <3
Ha! Love the texas tuxedo!
I usually love what you wear and find your choices very inspiration for my own fashion choices, but I couldn't ignore the fact that this fur looks scarily real. please take just a little time to research into the way horrendous way that fur is skinned from the backs of animals (which are often still alive so as to keep the fur flawless). so many people view your blog and although I am aware you have every right to wear what you want, you are also very influential on other peoples perceptions of fashion. chuck the fur, it looks vulgar, and give it to PETA as they requested used furs for their protests against fur. Canada is due to commence their annual slaughter or thousands of baby seals for their pelts, so this would be great time to chuck the fur ! this isn't an attack against you, just against the agony that is behind that fur.
for restaurants, check out le chat noir at pigalle. it's surrounded by seedy sex shops but really does serve up some wonderful dishes -- the duck confit is incredible!
oberkampf and le marais are also some different places to go for food and/or a nightcap, have plenty of little pubs... and have fun drink le vin chaud and eating marrons everywhere you go! ;)
le quartier latin and saint germaine has great little cafes and bookstores and is really a nice place to just sit back and soak up the atmosphere.
have fun in paris! je l'aime!
not many people can pull off that look! i just started a blog, can you link me? if you could that would be fantastic :D
hey are you treasure chest vintage on ebay?

http://so-right-now.blogspot.com
go to the restaurant "Le Fouquet," located on the Champs Elysees.
Order the croque monsieur.
I guarantee you will remember that sandwich for the rest of your life. I'm a vegetarian, and it's the only sandwich with meat that I will ever eat.
Hey, i lived in Paris for a while, so i got some tips for you...
the Marais area is the nicest, has a lot of vintage shops, you just have to go through all the small streets in Marais. youll also find the bar "La Perle" in there (rue vieille du temple), its great.
A must is "Shakespeare & Company", 37 rue de la Bûcherie, at the seine.
Of course Montmartre with all the little streets and artists...
A good nightclub is the "Social Club" 142 rue Montmartre.
On a sunny day: Place des Vosges... a very nice little park with very interesting people.
Have fun!!!
lucky you! have fun.
The black "sneaker heels" are from Diesel and are available at ASOS OUTLET (only UK size 5). A bit expensive as well!
love the fur stuff!
I love yours blog itis really great
bye ^^

I am so jealous of you going to Paris.
Enjoy!
Hi, I'm 17 and I live in Paris, I'm french so please don't pay attention to my english..
For shops you totally have to go to Sandro, Zadig&Voltaire, Isabelle Marant, they have a lot of shops like this in Paris and the clothes are just to die for. And of course as you said The Printemps, Le Bon Marché and the Galeries Lafayette, I think they have the brands I just told you about, but not the whole collection.
For restaurants : Tokio Eat, it is a restaurant into the Palais de Tokyo, I'm sure you are gonna love it. The food is really good and the meusem totally crazy !! Also, if you want the creme de la creme of french gastronomy (wich also means expensive), go to L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon or Guy Savoie. Those are like my favorite french restaurants. I also love the Kinugawa sushi restaurant near Avenue Montaigne.
To finish, Saint Germain des Près and Odéon are really great districts, and you can walk on the quays of The Seine, near the old Paris, and under the Pont Alexandre Trois.
Have fun, Paris is just so good !!!!
-Espace Catherine Max 17, Rue Raymond Poincaré
(Outlet with a wide range of choice.)
-Colette 213, Rue Saint Honoré
(Fashionista Mekkah)
-Freep Star 8, Rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie or 61, Rue de la Verrerie
(Two thrifting stores in the beautiful Marais)
-Dom 21, rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie
(Strange store, lots of studs.)
-Noir Kennedy 20, Roi de Sicille
(You have to see this one: vintage clothes, london imported things, punky employers and a creepy store!)
FOOD
-Breizh Café 109, Rue Vielle du Temple
The jean picture is awesome...I could see it as an ad for some big jean company. Very nice.
Have a great time in Paris...I am extremely jealous, I've never been!

i really love your sense o fashion. so chic.
i ve never been to paris so, i ll disapoint you girl.
those shorts...wow, i love the pockets out.
sorry for my english i'm from argentina.
Hi, I read your blog occationally, and your style is really inspiring. Love that you mix what I would never dare to do and look great.
Anyways I'm from Denmark, but have been in Paris a million times, so here are some advise. Buddha Bar, the area Bastille is great for vintage shopping, and getting a feel of the life as a Parisienne, plus all the cafées and sushi places. I'm guessing you are going for the fashion week, or maybe not, but Paris during the fashion week has a great vibe, and I'm sure it wont be difficult to find something new and different. Another place which is totally worth visiting is Pub de St. German - really cool. Hope you have a nice trip.. Ps.Champs Elysées is overrated, just a bunch og tourists ordering bad risotto. and sorry for my English.
PARIS. wow your the luckiest girl right now. Have a safe flight and enjoy :)
Mwah.
Paris - how exciting! Have a great trip :)
& that hood is awesome :)
