are they made from real girl scouts?

(Topshop jacket, vintage dress, re-chained cross from Rome, Forever 21 cable knit armwarmers, Chloe wedges, Alexander Wang bag)

My take on Wednesday Addams. How much better would black pigtails make this? I bought these armwarmers like years ago and I think I love them more every time I wear them...I'm on the hunt for different versions now..

I wore this shopping around Rue Etienne Marcel, I dutifully went to Kiliwatch as so many of you suggested and wound up buying a couple things, so thank you! Afterwards I fell in love with just about the entire current stock at All Saints only to be crushed when they lacked just as much in my size. Side note...the guy's section there = sexy. I dragged Colin to one last stop, KTZ, only to find the same story on a pair of rad sneaker wedges complete with puffy ankles. I don't think that me and shopping in Paris were meant to be. Not complaining though, everything else has been straight out of a fantasy.

omgod Wednesday Addams!! I haven't heard that reference in far too long!!! Pig tails would be awesome!

Sorry to hear your charge card didn't get the run you were hoping for in Paris....but hopefully you're experience makes up for that ;)

Always love your Chloé wedges. am positive you have single-handedly made them must-haves/increased their popularity. You look so good in them!!!

i have bad luck with shopping in paris too...it's hard and you always have too many expections about paris fashion. london is THE place for great shopping. so is stockholm and copenhagen for cool designers.

that's funny, i just went to walmart a few days ago, and there were girl scouts selling cookies outside. i heard one of them telling someone, "but don't worry, they're not made of real girl scouts!" i would've rolled my eyes if they weren't little girls.

you look great, btw! wish i was in paris!

Actually, they are very easy to put on haha. + Thank you babygirl.

Alright people, there's a pink elephant in the room, and I guess it is my job to point that out. Under no circumstances do faux fur (especially in Cheetah print) and a crushed velvet dress work, ever. I don't care of Karl sent you down the runway himself (which I assure you, he would NEVER do), the textures & patterns aren't working. Furthermore, you are killing me with those Chloe red platforms! Sometimes you just have to let accessories have their moment to shine and that shoe has shown quite enough! Not to mention, then you pair it with arm warmers (really?) you start to scream some sort of South London 70s punk rock (right down to the dye job on the hair; I think a few people commented before about you going back to your natural hair color, I concur -- step away from the peroxide!). In short, I essentially abhor what you are wearing and travesties should not be given such praise or else they will be doomed into repetition.

TRUTH said...

HAHAHAHAHA @CHRISTINA C, YOU ARE INSANELY FRUSTRATED AND JEALOUS. IT'S SO FUNNY SEEING YOU CRYING OVER A GIRL'S ( WHO IS BTW LIVING HER LIFE TO THE FULL) OUTFIT.

Oh, dear baby, is she killing you with the red Chloe's? Are the textures making you crazy and angry? I hope mommy holds you in her arms when you cry yourself to sleep tonight. SRSLY, I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW TERRIBLE IT MUST BE TO BE YOU AND TO LIVE YOUR PATHETIC LIFE.

I'm not a fan of Rumi's style, I check her blog every now and then just to see what she's been up to, 'cause her life seems pretty fun and interesting, but I really think she looks cute here. The hair looks good and the silhouette works.

vix said...

This might not be what you want to hear but I think you look absolutely adorable in this outfit. I think it has to do with the flared skirt and bright red sneaker wedges. And of course you also have a doll face. So cute!

Anonymous said...

I normally don't do this (and won't from this moment forward) but I will respond to your extremely unstable comment Truth.
This isn't about being "frustrated and jealous," this is about fashion and when you present yourself in a forum as such, you are opening yourself up to not only praise but to criticism. I'm not going to sit back and play with the glass menagerie and pretend like everything set before me is "beautiful" and "amazing." That isn't how I operate and that isn't how this industry operates. At no point and time did I make a malicious attack on her but rather, criticized her look. Why else does she have an entire blog dedicated to herself? To present her looks to the world for praise as well as criticism. It is to be expected.
Your comment does not anger me. Instead of being able to accept that someone has a different perspective from you, a more critical one, you assault me with negative words. But again, that is to be expected.
I will comment as I feel moved to do so, exercising my right as an individual and you are free to do the same, but I shalt entertain it again.

if you can see someone and say "OMG I love everything you wear. I have no suggestions whatsoever for improving any of your outfits and there all perfect,"then in my opinion, you have no creativity, originality or idea about what fashions is about

Lauren said...

I love it all except for the bag. To be clear-I LOVE the bag, I just think it's hard to pair a white bag with everything and it doesn't work in this outfit. However, I'll admit a sucker for making sure my accessories match, at least when it comes to the base color and in this outfit the base color is black. So a black bag would suit this outfit better, I think, or really anything not as loud as white.

PS - I think people can say what they want about people's fashion - within reason.

Rumi knows her fashion choices don't please everyone and as Christina (or anonymous, who knows) says, this is a public forum. People don't have to agree and Rumi can certainly take it, she's a trooper!

I think people should be allowed to express their opinions in a polite and constructive way without being jumped on.

Although I admit that her comment could have been a bit more diplomatic and nicer...

Let's not forget that Rumi is a real person and not some cyber doll :)

The Objectivist said...

If I may, just you made an inherent contradiction. Criticism doesn't have to be nice and to equate the two is a fallacy. I agree, too, that this is a public forum and such exposure will invite critics -or- her profile would be private and just for friends and worshipers alike. However, the critic will say as he/she feels, and that doesn't have to be "nice" or "diplomatic," it is criticism, and usually, harsh.

Ahh had I not been taking a bit of an internet hiatus I would have sent you my Paris List, which I inflict on anyone who is going (most recently Elisabeth of thrillsandfrills.blogspot.com).

I don't know how long you have left but see if you can fit in lunch in La Loire dans le Théiere on Rue des Rosiers (Métro Saint-Paul). EXCELLENT cakes and hot chocolate.

If you liked All Saints then you need to come to London to the flagship store. Plus they're everywhere here, I bought my military boots this weekend, I'm in love.

Totally gonna have to agree with Beth_ny on this one. Time you spruce it up! We've seen the short shorts, skirts and dress, the 2 Chloe wedges and the Balenciaga knock-offs. We've seen the tackytackytacky faux furs and the messy pony tail and the mixed up makeup. We have SEEN enough. For as much exposure as you are getting, it might be time to step into the closet and unearth something new, fresh and exciting for the masses. Whatdayasay?

Rumi has stated repeatedly that she does not dress, to put in your words, "for the masses". She has this blog for HER own self. What she wears is worn because SHE likes it, not to please others.

Dont worry , there is never your size in Paris, especially for frames like you (every girl is like that and stores don t bother ordering bigger stocks in the most common sizes). I've always had more luck in the US where people are different in size and shapes. You don't miss too much though because everything is way overpriced in Paris.
