Balmain be mine

Forever 21 dress, vintage slip, customized Zara boots.

It's safe to say that only when it comes to attaining the Balmain look am I compelled to maniacally DIY. I guess I'm pretty lazy, but I mostly just really hate that craft store potpourri smell. I realized somewhere along the way I didn't have the $16,000 it would take to create the designer look (I'm roughly estimating $15,000 for the dress and a grand for the boots), so I ordered this surprisingly well made dress from Forever 21 and made up for the fringelessness of my Zara boots by devoting an evening to studding them with my boyfriend/watching Gossip Girl and Heroes. They are now some kind of cheap mutant hybrid of FW08 and FW07. And, obviously, my new favorite shoes in the world.

Hey guys,

The dress is still up: http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=FASHION_Dressy&product_id=2055114873&variant_id=022&showBack=OK

Brigadeiro, is Heroes trying too hard this season or is it just me? I'm so over "tough" Claire and arachnid Mohinder.

Lulu you are my only dot dotter. Flaming fingers.

Rumi said...

I've gotten a bunch of emails in regards to the studs - I used the 1/4" pyramid studs from studsandspikes - the backs of the studs have two prongs that you push through the leather and then clamp down on the other side. No glue involved. We did it by hand so it was kind of time consuming, but worth it. Hope that helps!

Suzie heh ordered 'em.

Looby, I have on a vintage black slip underneath, the dress is VERY sheer.
