Touring Teen Vogue

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I was so happy to run into Naomi from Teen Vogue on Thursday at the RVCA presentation, who is just the sweetest girl ever and gave me some awesome California girl in New York tips that were most definitely put to use. And to top it off, she invited me over to the Teen Vogue HQ, which is obviously an offer I couldn't turn down.

Colin and I cabbed to Times Square in the rain on Tuesday, felt like complete impostors talking to the people at the Conde Nast front desk, and made it to the right floor only after first taking the wrong elevator (hey there were a lot to choose from). It was a relief to see Naomi's smiling face coming out of those glass doors, and a little surreal to be taking a tour of the offices of one of my favorite magazines in existence. We walked the hallways outside Amy Astley's office, met some fabulously dressed Teen Voguers, and even got to check out the accessories closet in a complete daze as Colin snapped photos of my slack-jawed self. Naomi gently guided us away and we went down to Bryant Park to get some coffee and talk about anything and everything..turns out we both had all kinds of questions to ask each other. All in all an amazing experience - thank you Naomi for being the perfect hostess!

Chatting with Andrew Bevan..LOVE this man, he's so much fun. It seems he had just been shot by Altamira NYC in his masterfully rain-appropriate outfit and sweet buckled boots.

I made Naomi pose cheesily with me in her gorgeous Alexander Wang dress and DIY necklace.

Hmm Colin seemed more apt to document the men's clothes.

Heaven.

Then we of course had to document each other in Bryant Park. Colin wears a Ralph Lauren blazer, American Apparel V-neck, Gap jeans, secondhand belt, Vans, and Spy sunglasses.

Me in vintage Tshirt, collar, and cuff, Erin Wasson x RVCA blazer, Forever 21 skirt, Promiscuous heels, Target socks, Urban Outfitters men's hat, and Givenchy bag.

you need a new photograher for these "in the moment" shots! All of these amazing experiences and such bad lighting.... and the blur...quite painful to look at and poor documentation!

RUMI - if you moved to NY, it's obvious you would be living a pretty high-profile existence in no time.
I mean, how long have you been there and you've been to NY fashion week, Erin Wasson's apartment and Teen Vogue?
I think NY is calling for Rumi, lol! Just don't become an annoying cobrasnake girl and I'll be with you all the way! Haha!

Oh. My. Goodness. BIG congrats to you on all of these amazing experiences!

Rumi, this is a totally random and hopefully not inappropriate question that must be asked. Where on earth do you buy those bras from? Being pretty flat-chested, I find that I end up wearing slightly padded bras from the likes of Victoria's Secret that, even at 32A, make me larger endowed than I want to be (I'm just not used to looking that 'womanly'). Anyway, I liked some of the stuff you've worn under sheer clothing on your site, and thought you'd have some advice in general.

Outifts are getting boring. same look over and over again. And your boyfriend needs to get a look of his own... vests (previous post) is from 2 years ago. And his outfit on this post is well...blah. Every other joe wears a blazer/white shirt/denim combo-better fitting jeans would be good too.
Although, I must say...both of you are beautiful people.

Adiel said...

Wow, that anonymous comment right before what I'm about to leave seems to be left by a split personality. haha
I agree though, you are both outrageously good looking.

What a great experience touring Teen Vogue, thanks for sharing!

Zoe said...

OMG you're so lucky you went to teen vogue. that's such a good oppertunity. I love your style. i saw the picture of you in front of top shop and i cant wait until it opens!

Hi, sorry for commenting on such an old post, but that Ralph Lauren blazer that your boyfriend is wearing--has it been taylored? Or did it fit that well upon purchase? And I'd appreciate it if you'd give me an estimate on how much it cost >P

Thanks~

Jessica

Rumi said...

Hi Kuriku, actually he hadn't gotten it tailored yet when this photo was taken but he's gotten it tailored since..hope that helps! I don't remember how much it cost though...sorry!
