What's new

Playing around with a few new things.

1. Erin Wasson/RVCA bandage skirt with gold studs. I've already worn this a ton, I love that it's a really thick knit instead of your standard jersey. Plus, studs.

2. Spiderweb lace lingerie top. So trashy, so in love. I imagine it's probably supposed to be part of some Morticia Addams costume. Man, what am I going to be for Halloween if I'm using up all these ideas now?

3. Studded ankle boots that I fell for when Karla posted them a few days ago. I haven't ordered anything from Victoria's Secret since..I'm approximating..my sorority days. Wow. Any DGs out there? Anyway, the boots are the sickness. I'm guessing they will be the new requisite blogger footwear. I remember fainting slightly when I saw (fondled) the Louboutins they're a knockoff of at Neiman Marcus on clearance for $400 or so. Prooobably should have just taken the plunge, however that was back in January and I was less insane then. I'm giving these an A+ too though, good platform/heel ratio going on. I love how low-cut they are too.

Tank and skirt, Erin Wasson x RVCA. Heels, Colin Stuart at Victoria's Secret.

My swayback isn't really that bad. But it's still pretty bad. I wore this out last night to hang out with some law school students at some random bar. God knows what they thought of me. I told one of them that I work in fashion just to be succinct and he responded, "Figures". I look like I'm going to sneeze in that first picture.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Black lace top, random lingerie store. Boots, secondhand.

Ok and lastly, this is random, but for some reason I get a lot of questions about my hair, which I've always just found uselessly neither wavy nor straight. I was going to make a separate post about this but then realized I didn't really have that much to say. I get it highlighted obviously, use random drugstore shampoo/conditioner (currently Garnier), let it air-dry until I can't stand it being damp anymore, then spray it with Sunsilk Waves of Envy. Which costs about a cent, and smells kinda nice and oceanic. Sometimes it dries wavier, sometimes not, but that seems to be random more than anything else. I haven't touched a straightening iron in years now, mostly cause I don't care enough to and it's kinda scary to see steam coming off your strands. I hope that answers your questions and sorry it's not more interesting!

A sorority girl? You??? I'm a Chi O, but we're about the only sorority on campus that doesn't dress exactly the same (sadly). I rushed DG, but I didn't exactly fit in with that group of girls.
Question: how do you find a pair of heels that don't give you blisters? Do you put cushions into them? Ugh, my ankles are all torn up and I want to wear my heels again!

Anonymous said...

I love your blog/clothes, so I was surprised that you look a little cheap in these pictures. Lace and straps and v cuts and very high heels and smokey eyes and thin see-through material all put together is not good.

Darling Moon said...

I love that you have a very effortless style, from your clothing to your hair. I think it says a lot that you don't have to spend hours in front of a mirror getting your hair perfect. Beauty is often a lot simpler than people think.

C said...

Can I ask a question? Just how comfortable are the M by MJ ankle boots? I can just about tolerate the Nine West mirror wedges for a long period, what's the comfort level compared to them?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for your job besides the ebay store? You and Karla are too much with the studded boots. I wanted the Loubs ever since I saw the Olsen twins rocking them.

DG, huh. Didn't think you could possibly be any more interesting. I guess it's not so surprising that you were once a sorority girl, but then I remember some comment you made about connecting with girls when you met Lulu. Not that difficulty making personal female connections and being in a sorority are mutually exclusive, so I don't know what my point is.

Ah, I remember. You are the ultimate (excuse the cheesy cliche) femme fatale- infinitely complex and alluring.

Veryy lovely outfit indeed Rumi.
I cant believe this stuff isnt coming out untill next spring.. oh how you are torturing us =(

Anonymous said...

Wow killer boots. Question - are they particularly hard to walk in, or just as hard as any other shoe with that platform/heel ratio? And is there any traction on the bottom?

Elouise said...

my hair is the same, not quite straight and not quite wavy... so it suffers great pain from the straightner :(

loving the new boots and that skirt!

Hi everyone! I'm going to answer all the questions tonight but wanted to provide a more in-depth review of the boots really quickly for those who want the dirt.

They're pretty comfortable because of the platform, if anything they run a little small so if you waver between sizes, definitely order bigger. I'm a 7/7.5 and the 7.5 fit great. There isn't really any traction on the bottom but I'm sure after some wear they wouldn't be so smooth as to be slippery. Hope that helps!

I love that outfit Rumi. Does it not get really hot in all black though?!

I leave my hair natural too, it's just so much easier.

Bostonista said...

We have the same hair routine! I have to remember to try the Sunsilk!

It's really weird to me how mean people are when you say you're in fashion or want to go into fashion. They give this once over and then say stuff like "figures." or "oh....really?? huh." It's so rude! I would never say to someone, "Oh YOU'RE in law school?" Or treat them differently based on their chosen profession. People are such snobs!

both of these outfits are amazing btw but I'm really obsessed with the first one.

I have been reading your blog for a long time, but was always too shy to comment, especially since I don't have a fashion blog of my own. I am venturing out of the woodwork, though, because I would love to know more about you!

I will be looking forward to your reply!

Ok I'm back, I answered the boot questions a couple comments up -

I'm dying to get a vlog up, honestly. I know I keep saying that, but the only camera I have right now is the Canon which has no video function..I'm trying to extract my mother's from her hands, she has some crazy amazing one she got last year for Christmas. This will either work, or not. Fingers crossed.

I haven't given the boots a super rigorous test yet, just out for a night, but they seem promising. But then again I seem to have a pretty high pain tolerance for heels. Platforms always help.

My bra is from Forever 21, I think it's still up on their site.

Much love to the DG girls!

Anon 2:45 my boyfriend made me a studio, so yup!

Pandarl, I was lucky enough to get samples of Erin's line but it's coming out in stores Spring 2009.

Anon 9:23 I'm thinking SO good with tights...wooo.

Rockzchi, I literally shop..everywhere. I always say where stuff is from so you can take a look back at the archives if you want specific!

Anon 10:30 I seem drawn to the trashiness lately lol, can't explain it. I definitely see where you're coming from though.

C, I have two pairs of the MJs, but the ones I wore a couple posts ago..the heel is pretty killer high but it's chunky enough to not be so so bad. They definitely slow me down some.

Arline, ooh lucky you, he reports to me that the people aren't dressed very well but the stores are full of awesome shit. In his words "they have the resources, they just don't use them" - but who knows that could just be him. Have fun!

Knightcat, hahah they're awesome you'll love 'em. So much video blog pressure ahhh! <3

Vlada, wow what did you get? I don't LOVE the collection as a whole but I would definitely die to get my hands on some of those belts and military jackets. And I spotted a studded boot or two in there too heh.

Tali LOVE Milk.

Jess your comment made me smile, sounded like one of my trains of thought haha. Yeah sorority = kinda random but my school was full of science nerds so you like..had to rush to meet normal people. Of course, those nerds are all probably pale millionaires now.

Elouise you gotta give the straightener a rest, honestly try this spray stuff it works!

Anna-Maria, the link is up there, they're about $100 :)

Venoose, I think mine's an XS or an XXS, men's sizing though.

Anon 6:25 all I know is I love Erin, I'm not going to believe everything I read on the internet.

Real stud, you probably want to get a 7.

Gala hmm YES to the mansion/Ibiza swap please. I went to Mallorca when I was in high school with a student group and we were all set to go to Ibiza then they decided it was a bad idea. DAMNIT. I will make it there someday. And thanks :)

Quincy <3

Bostonista haha it's not really much of a routine, good for us lazies! Definitely try the Sunsilk, it's kind of an obsession. Yeah people can be annoying, but actually this guy was actually kind of sweet/socially awkward. I asked him why he thought it "figured" and he said cause he thought I was pretty lol. Aw.

J I WISH that was humanly possible, I'm still suffering from an extremely horrible bangs trim so I've been pinning them back every single day. Which has been getting really, really old. Grow bangs grow!

Evangeline, I do yoga a couple times a week, I'm not really good at the whole beauty routine thing but I've been thinking about doing a post on it since people always ask...stay tuned.

Denae aww good ol' Tila has a much more dedicated following I'm sure haha. Ugh my old roommate used to always watch her crazy show. Don't miss that.
