tinkerbell

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

My Topshop dress came! It reminds me of those cheap little Tinkerbell Halloween costumes, but a million times better of course. I mean, it's Topshop. What shoes do I need to be wearing with this crazy thing?

I love the colour; it's so unique. And the ruffled on the side is so pretty! It's funny how you think it looks like a costume but I disagree; I think it's a great summer dress. You wear it well!

its like hot, brown, exotic, tinkerbell! wowy.

Adiel said...

I can't help ya with the shoes, but you definitely should wear this in NY.

LuVvy said...

cute dress!

hmmmm...what about wearing it with something completely random, like tan cowboy boots?

I was thinking that tan or nude colored shoes might keep it from being super costumey like you said.

Otherwise...nice look--

cheers!

I love the color! It makes me crave limeade, I wonder why? ;-) If You really want to blend in in NY, wear all black. Or black and dark jeans.

K said...

this dress is gorgeous. a big YES to black in NYC. take it from an NYC teen, even. you'll fit right in. :)

Awesome colour, i also like the cut.

mo said...

i wish it were still available on the topshop website :(

it looks amazing on you!

love the asymmetrical shoulders. & the color is great! =)

Personally, I think shoes have to go one of two ways: Something really random and chunky and unique, or something plain. Of course the plain option is probably safer haha.

As for NYC - since when do you stick to rules?? I say wear it. You guaranteed to get attention.

sunset said...

What is it about bright yellow-green? I saw a shirt in a similar shade to that and I couldn't get my eyes off it!

By the way, I have to really compliment you on your eyes' shape. They're sad in a way, but just make you more beautiful.

leah said...

i love this. and i think wearing all black in nyc is a def way to blend in, but i think YOU could blend in wearing this. and by that, i mean you should DEF wear this in ny.

Maeko said...

Holy shit, Rumi! I want it. And unfortunately, I do not have your colouring, nor your legs, nor the money, so alas, I cannot copy you.

Rejoice. You are unique yet for another fifteen seconds! I will be you for Halloween, how about that?

The Clothes Horse said...

So gorgeous! If the mandate is black then people need a shock of color to their system!

WendyB said...

Great color.

Anonymous said...

no need to wear all black, anything and everything goes in nyc

Copycat Sasha said...

so cute! not something I'd expect to see you wear though..

Rorosto said...

Yeah seriously, whatever you want goes in NYC. As a matter of fact, I often think that tourists who look like they're TRYING to fit in wear too much black thinking that's the NYC "look." Not so. Have fun!

I was a sunny rainphase said...

hi, I'm from mexico :)
I need to ask you for a complete post of your leg workout routine! you have amazing legs. share that with me pretty please :*

Tali said...

totally flatttering to your figure, it adds curves, and creates a distinct waist line.

Hmm the zipper ones might be fun with some black stockings.

hm im from NY wearing black is cool, but that dress is hot, and you're tal and skinny so you'll have no problem.

Maybe the black boots too.

Ohhh the chloes don't go but thats so like 'im a spoiled rich chick who can afford to not match...so its fly anyway'

top shop, I love it. So delicate and feminine but the color is fresh

I've lived in NYC for nine years. We allow color. Especially when it's THAT awesome. Totally tinkerbell and totally amazing.

Anonymous said...

i am a born and raised socal girl who just got back from her first visit to NYC LAST WEEK....AND let me tell you THEY ALLOW COLOR FOR SURE. ANYWAYS its still SUMMER and I saw so many oufits with amazing color/fabric/texture combinations while i was there...the point is...in NYC i think they just care less about "style rules" and trying so hard...anything goes. the all black thing i really only saw on saks fifth avenue or barneys sales reps out on there smoke breaks...

Lauren said...

I like the dress, I think simple black heels would go best, maybe the dollhouse ones? I am not a native New Yorker, but I've lived in East Village for 3 months now and I'm pretty social, honestly don't think what you wear matters as long as you're attractive, which you are, so wear whatever you want. esp if wearing whatever you want shows alot of skin/is considered sexy. It's kinda a sad rule ppl go by, but it's definitely true!

Katherine said...

you're just fabulous!! i love you.

Cheyenne said...

awesome awesome awesome. Love the dress

Jamie said...

contemporary tinkerbell! yes, in NY its all about black...and crocs...ew. well, the girls wear crocs when they're walking and then change into their heels after arriving at their destination. The color in NY lives in Williamsburg or Brooklyn Heights where all the "hipsters" live. I think you should go barefoot or get the pom pom flats that Tink had in the animated film.

ModeJunkie said...

such a wonderful color. :)

R said...

When you posted this and told us you bought it awhile back, I was so excited to see what it looked like. SO much better on you than just laying flat on the internet, I seriously lovee it, and the color is awesome.. I think this may possibly be one of my fave dresses of yours.

Lisa said...

rumi!!!

ahhh I love this dress + color. It looks insanely hot on you. I've always had a thing for one shoulder dresses...

***oh its funny that you mentioned yellow + new york. For my internship one day I actually wore one of the designers, who I was working for dresses, that I got as a gift.I loved it but it was BUMBLE BEE YELLOW! People def. do where color in the summer BUT I still felt like such a tool!***

the_kitten said...

this is one freaking champion of a dress. unusual colors in my eyes are MEANT to go with other unusual colors. I am thinking of your electric blue platforms. Do you have some loud pink somewhere? Black is too obviously "I try to find something suitable to this dress and I heard black goes with everything".

F. said...

Well, neutral color shoes definitely...maybe chunky to contrast the whimsical feel? I dunno...
love the dress(especially the color)
&even though New York is about black there's nothing wrong with a pop of color

beautiful rumi!!! i wouldn't go with white shoes for sure

i think it would look safe with a black lace up ankle boots but at the same time i really love to see the colour clash with those blue satin cut out wedge heels u have. U look so great! i didnt think much of this dress til i saw it on u! now i am regretting it! u got such a good eye for good topshop dresses! they all look designer on u!!! lol.

Rumi Neely. PLEASE do a video post. i dont know why you wouldn't! you're so famous and we need to see something new.

Oh I love that! I live right next to 3 huge Topshops and haven't seen it once! I would buy it in a heartbeat in that gorgeous colour.

MongoosePouco said...

looks hot! as for shoes, you have so many shoes in your closet that I doubt you'll ever be stuck for choice! I love your bangles. Where are they from please? x

i love that dress!! i know this is completely random, but i see you wearing those studded bangles everywhere, and i was wondering where you got them? or where i could get some similar ones! tooo cute

haha, tinkerbell, how great is that!
I´ve always loved dresses inspired by fairytales or magic stories so of course you look adorable.
like a fairy. just way taller and more tanned. ;)

Richel said...

You look absolutely freaking beautiful in this dress! Tinkerbell was cute, but you've managed to be a very hot Tinkerbell! Did you order this dress from Topshop a long time ago? Because I just ordered something from Topshop and I really don't know how long it'll take for it to arrive but I'm crazy excited for the package!

mary said...

I would give anything to be able to pull of a colour like that!

Brown sandals is my vote.

thedoc said...

Hi Rumi!
The dress looks so good on you, and what about that great color!... love it!
I definitely vote for wearing it in NY... why not?... those girls from sex and the city broke the rules already, so go for it!!!!
And the shoes... so many options( your blue sandals, the new report heels, the bebes.... oh, endless possibilities!).. Good luck choosing!

Taghrid said...

love it! the ruffley shoulder thing is amazing!

Pheabe said...

carly is it still on the topshop website??

p.s. rumi- i think the "rule" of havng to wear black in ny is stereotypical and not quite true..regardless, arent rules made to be broken? :P

fröken rinse said...

ugh. smashing. it would look so amazing with your orangey-red chloe wedge boots. colour overdose.

melissa said...

I think the Nine West "Hotpic" in bronze would look great (on sale!!) I have them and they are unbelievably comfortable and they are darker in person than in the pic online.

Rumi said...

Hiii, yay neon love.

Knightcat, I WISH. But thanks.

Luvvy mmm I'm into the nude shoe idea.

Mo, I ordered it a couple weeks ago, they had it in a couple other colors too but I don't see it on there anymore...that's the thing with Topshop you have to act quickly!!

Sunset aww that's really sweet, thank you <3

Maeko LOL that's hilarious. It would be way too easy to come up with a Rumi costume.

I was a sunny rainphase, I don't really work out my legs, if I do cardio they get too buff so I just do yoga.

Tali YES that is my new vibe haha ok not really. Though actually I would be scared to wear the red Chloes, but maybe the cream triple straps..

Mike ooh, boy commentary I like it! I'm going to try that look on and see.

Jamie SERIOUSLY with the Crocs? There's gotta be more flattering comfort footwear. Pompom flats would be hilarious. Maybe this actually can double as my Halloween costume.

R aww glad you like it better on, there was something about it that just made me need it as soon as I saw it pop up online..

Lisa ahh I don't want to be a tool in yellow. Something to ponder. I want to seeee your yellow dress!

The kitten, hmm a couple votes for the electric blue...I can sort of see it working in a Carrie Bradshaw way..

SS I LOVE fairy wings. But my pair is black. Damn. I've always wanted those immense Victoria's Secret ones that probably weigh 100 pounds each. So hot.

Discothequechic, umm so jealous, that must be quite the experience!

Missvogue I'm trying to obtain a videocamera from a couple sources, I swear I'm on it.

Anon 3:59 wow really? Yeah it seems a couple people say they didn't see it in stores, how odd!

Mongoosepouco, thanks, the cuffs are both vintage and the green one is from Target. Though I only wore the green one in the photo by accident, forgot I had it on.

Pose oooh I want to see how you wear it!

Kristin yeah this is my second insanely loud chartreuse silk dress..what a strange and specific fetish I seem to have.

Anon 11:19, I have a silver studded bangle that I got at Forever 21 last year that's probably the one you're referring to..pyramid studs right? I also have a couple crazy bronze-ish cuffs that look studded, I picked those up at Loehmann's a few months ago. Hope that helps!

Jen ooh the light gray could be good. I'm into that idea.

Caroline Rose, well diagnosed, good ol' Topshop huh?

Fashionistadiary, ooh I bet it's sweet in gray.

Isa yay I LOVE fairies. It's actually kind of weird. I had that Flower Fairy calendar/frieze thing hanging in my room when I was a kid and I used to me obsessed with the March fairy. Random.

Richel, Topshop is pretty good with the shipping, it always seems to take a week maximum for their shipments to arrive.

Thedoc very true. I mean I love black but sometimes I just feel like being that annoying/bright.

Francesca I always forget I have those Chloes because I store them away all preciously in their box but I'm thinking YES.

Krista I suppose it's kind of random for me, I'm not sure how consistent I am with what I like, I just know when I like something. If that makes sense. :)

xo

chartreuse is one of the worst colours to put on your skin specifically. your skin tone has a lot of yellow tones already, piling on a distorted yellow colour washes you out. in my opinion you could have remedied it by putting on more colourful make-up to balance out the effect of the chartreuse.
