The 4th

I figure the 4th of July is perhaps the best possible day to dress kind of trashily - everyone's at least buzzed if not fully intoxicated, the humidity levels are high enough to induce wavy hair, and people don't seem to bother putting on much more than a swimsuit around here anyway. I spent the day hanging out with some friends I haven't seen in way too long and around a hundred gay men at a (catered!) house party, who promptly decided that I looked like a Bond girl in my romper and proceeded to refer to me as such for the rest of the time. This was further assisted by a neon watergun I tucked into my belt later. My boyfriend and I took a break to grab some lunch/air and found this nice baby blue wall to abuse. The fireworks later on were so abnormally awesome that I almost didn't mind stepping in vomit. Sick. SO glad I was wearing heels for that one.

Romper, Forever 21. Belt, vintage. Heels, Dollhouse. Sunglasses, Ray-ban.

You look great! I have been trying to look for a romper for so long, especially in Forever 21. Is it hidden? Did you buy it 3 seasons ago? It is lovely.

I also have a question. How do you get your photos so big without them becoming pixely? I have tried dragging the edge of my photos to make them bigger, and even though they have been uploaded in the 'large' size and have a really high resolution, they still come out pixely. Could you help me?

Zoelissima said...

I love the silver bangle you're wearing! Vvv envious of your bracelet collection...

As a fellow American Apparel junkie, I was just wondering what you made of this article I (briefly) blogged about?

Aw I love your outfit, especially the shoes. I did a more "American" dress with a 60's nautical-strip dress and my "wizard of oz" Dorothy shoes. Then I just switched sandal haha.

Did you have a nice 4th?

Those shoes are so gorgeous! I´m not good at English:D. I love your style very mutch!!

Rumi said...

Hi all! Thank you so very much and I hope everyone else that celebrates had a good 4th too.

Couture candy, I answered in your blog, but for anyone else interested in the camera situation, my bf and I switch between a Sony DSCT10 and a Canon XTI. I really need to put up that FAQ, eh?

Richhippie, ahh I got mine what feels like forever ago from bakers, and they hardly had any sizes left even then..I checked out the Dollhouse website but it's not shoppable..

Ugh Jennifer the vomit was a pretty shallow pool, but UGH still so disgusting. Platforms 4eva.

Haha anon 7:36 I truly believe aviators are for everyone! Looking nuts is kind of fun anyway.

Anon 7:45 WOW good eye. I have no idea how you did that - it's OPI's Russian Navy, I've never tried the Chanel, is it better?

Paris Tarts lol your bf sounds cute :)

Anon 4:39, I'm 5'7"

Anon 5:00, ooh thanks for the tip, looking into it right now!

Anon 6:05, the silver one that looks like twisted forks is vintage.

Style and the city, thank you for your sweet comment, love your site!

Kathrin I honestly think the wall is making me look darker, I'm looking at these and I almost look freakishly tan lol. The belt is a thrift store find, yes.

Aww Emily, where are you now?

Vintage Vinyl, I don't use blogger to host my photos since their sizing can be annoying - I just use imageshack instead.

H, this is a very good point. But the gun started leaking all over me so I put it down and never found it again. Sad.

Ooh yes Dakota, I'm lagging but still must do a jewelry post!

Lina, I'm so sorry but I have noooo idea what style they are..maybe you can message her and ask? Sorry!

Kittykate, haha yes they are more creative in that area than their hetero counterparts it seems. Although I was quite taken aback when one of our most drunken neighbors told me I had a "forlorn beauty" later on that day. Mostly cause I didn't think he was the type to use the word forlorn lol.

Mmm Lulu that would be too much insanity to handle. Almost. Is HS preparing for his impending double date?

Ugh Luxe I know, but it was dark!! Ahh so gross.

For those that were asking about the romper, I actually just got it this week - I don't see it online yet but I'm sure it will be soon. It comes with this horrible elastic belt but I quickly took care of that.

you know, you make even the simplest of outfits completely fab.

Poetic Fashion said...

the romper is so fab, somehow you make it look NOT trashy- opposed to when my sister tried it on in the store. haha. love the heels, but not as much as the bebe zipper ones i finally saw the other day in the store. THOSE ARE GREAT.

J said...

Rumi, you know the AA Jersey U-neck dress? What size did you get? I'm a little on the slimmer side as you are, and I wanted to order a black one online!

<3 fashion chalet said...

Well you looked very cute!! Happy belated 4th.

I for one am emetophobic so I don't know how I would have dealt with that one.... those poor shoes.. :(

stephanie said...

You totally look trashy. If by trashy you meant CHIC. But I get it, sometimes I like to look skimpy. It's really just taking in the summer in a carefree and confident way. Like you!

PS Must. Have. Romper. The all black is terribly sophisticated. You could be on Sart!!

I like the whole editorial, tailored but still relaxed style here.

Very chic. :)

But maybe you should try sporting it up a bit, with Keds maybe? Would look really good, and would put a spin on the whole playsuit thing.
