Western wear re-assessed

I have a shoe problem. I'm working on it. Well not really, but I know it's out there. I had long ago set an eBay saved search for my Nine West shoes and when these white ones came up I clicked through the Buy It Now immediately and robotically, no thought involved. And, well, I love them just as dearly as I do my blue ones, which have definitely seen better days at this point. I saw that you clever readers perhaps did the same, spotting that 7.5 on eBay! Best of luck to those bidding.

Today also marks the debut of this totally crazy suede fringe jacket. I was going to sell it in my store, but now I'm thinking I might hold onto it for a while. The fringe even extends across the back and it's a little too much to take, in the best way possible. 80s product that it is, I had to do a little shoulder pad surgery but now I can whip people in the face with my tassels to my heart's desire. Only by accident, of course.

Less outerwear specifically, there's a change in plans for this week...sadly, my boyfriend has managed to tear a tendon in his knee while doing manly things and is gimpily crutching about as we speak (type?), which means that I'll be flying down to San Diego to help him on Friday and driving up to LA on Tuesday. There was definitely a lot of ticket re-negotiating but I think it's all figured out now. It was agreed upon that it might be hard to drag a suitcase around the airport with said crutches in use. Blogging, of course, will continue throughout! Well, when I'm not assisting Caldwell in every way I can, of course. And eating fish tacos and writhing about on the beach.

Meanwhile, IN PARIS WITHOUT ME, my mother is toying with the notion of purchasing a yellow Balenciaga. Interesting.

Note: to anyone that is bidding on auctions that end tomorrow night or has won anything this week, PLEASE make payment by tomorrow night if you want your item sent out on Friday. Otherwise I will do so a week later when I am back. And you know you want your awesome stuff sooner.

Note II: Dearest Catpower, I added a chain strap bag to the store like you requested! This one's pretty cute too.

Dress, Urban Outfitters. Jacket, vintage. Wedges, Nine West. Headband, Forever21

I was just looking at those shoes. The mirrored heel is amazing, as is the cutout.

The fringe jacket is truly awesome. I remember my mom refusing to buy me one when I was younger because she thought it looked too cowboyish. Instead she bought me a peacoat...

I was just looking through your store and saw those white shoes, and I was like omgg why has she not worn these in posts? So cute, I think I might even like more than blue =o.
You should do what I do with my mom for that yellow balenciaga, "Can I borrow it for today", and then slowly stop returning it =)
Btw, your backyard is litterally too perfect! It looks like it should be in the pages of a magazine, cant get over it.

I love...no LOVE the blue Nine West shoes you have, well done. And your Mother buying a yellow Balinciaga...for lack of better words, that's bad ass!

I found those shoes in electric blue on Ebay but they are not my size :(

For lucky people who wear 7,5, the item number is 320253932389

Good luck :)

Rumi you rock!

Amazing dress. Everything is amazing. i really love it :)

Isn't nine west awesome? I bought those wedges in black and discovered (after buying them) they were pretty closely "inspired" by Chanel, minus the odd vinyl foot covering.

Anyway, I think you're just great and your blog is inspiring!

what size are your motorcycle bags? the city?

I have a question about your nine west heech gladiators.. I was just wondering the comfort level considering they're 4"'ers

Rumi said...

Wow lots of questions!

R yup I just got these yesterday, and immediately decided they needed to be in my store photos! I'm loving the white, they're a little more Chanel-ish than the blue...haha and we'll see what happens with this Balenciaga business I really hope she gets it!! And about the gladiators, they're actually pretty comfortable considering there isn't any platform there. Plus they're so hot they're worth the pain.

Krystal my mom is pretty badass..she sports studs like no other.

Anon, thanks for the item number! I linked it.

Hi newlyinspired, I LOVE San Diego, I went to high school in the Bay Area though! College at UCSD :P

Ainsleigh, I know, those Chanels are so so sweet. I kind of love the odd vinyl even!

Anon 10:25, yup they're the city..the perfect size for every day!

I've been going give-me-fringe-or-you-die attitude lately (sifting through ebay for at least the smallest of luck to score on a good fringe suede leather bag) so I dunno, karma, your jacket is screaming out to me today. Keep it, don't sell it to the wrong hands!! unless its mine. muhaha.. Those white NWs have a different kind of power than the blue, an absolutely loveable power though.

Ida said...

This is one of your loveliest dresses ever! And you look perfection in it, as always:))
All the best to Caldwell, been in his situation, it's not much fun.
Oh, and the last picture is fabulous!

Your shoes are incredible. As is that jacket. Something that I desperately wish I could pull off... I particularly like the "whipping people in the face" part. So many situations where that could come in handy.

Love your work :)

That jacket is beautiful on you! I remebmer my uncel gave me one jacket lika that when i was abut 10 years old, but i hated it so much :)

Fantastically edgy jacket and great dress! The all white might freak me out a bit with the shoes but you wear them well.

love your outfit as usual! i need help. i have the nine west shoes in pewter, and w/o any sense of style, i have no clue what colors to wear it with. it's quiet shiny too. thanks

OMG THOSE WHITE ONES ARE AMAZING. I totally have a shoe problem too... I got an email from Aldo this morning and already spent 1 hr putting stuff in my cart.. but I'm debating buying :)

I'm going to SD for the weekend too! Leaving tonight! My bf lives there :) What part of SD are u going to? Maybe I'll see you at the beach =)

I think nine west runs big though. So you gotta be like an size 8 to wear those on ebay. boo bad =(

I prefer your blue ones a lot more than the white somehow. Mabye I just need to get used to them!

oh, love your clothes :)

There's definite bag-borrowing (aka stealing...) opportunity there...

Love those shoes.... but I find Nine West horribly uncomfortable for some reason...plus the UK get ripped off when the prices get jacked up...

I truly love your look, but in some of these pics you look like death, sorry to say so.

I hope the weather gets better when you visit San Diego. it's supposed to rain and be in the 50s this weekend. :/

And if you look like death (which you don't!) I would hate to see what I look like. Haha.

I absolutely love this outfit! Nicely done!

So, Miss Ruminate, you're originally from San Diego? (I grew up there!)

Or were you from Hell A? I can't tell from your many photos which city you actually lived in. I'm always inclined to think it's LA.

THESE WHITE SHOES ARE BYOND HOT. I LIKE THE BLUE, BUT I LOVE THE WHITE ;) RUMI, YOU KNOW US SD GIRLS GOTTA STICK TOGETHER. I SAY WE HAVE A GIANT FASHION-BLOG MEET UP :) LOVE THIS LOOK. AND AS FAR AS THE B-BAG GOES, I'M HOPING YOUR MOM GETS IT JUST SO WE CAN SEE PICS

Those shoes are amazing, as is your jacket (the fringe+clean lines is a winner). And your backyard is almost too pretty to be real, what do those stairs lead down to?

White ones look good too...and totally loving the simplicity of your outfit even its kinda not at the same time...

I CALL A BLOGGER MEET UP IN SAN DIEGO!!!! WHOES UP FOR IT?

Erica said...

I love that jacket, but I know exactly what you mean about the fringe all around being almost too much. I was recently given a vintage white leather jacket with the same type of fringe and it took me a while and then finally a spontaneous night out to wear it in public =] But now it's one of my favorite pieces...
p.s. fyi - I've recently revived my blog and you're linked just because (as you know I'm sure) your blog has become an icon.

I cannot express in words how much I adore this outfit. It's ethereal, very casual cool and bohemian yet put together! You have the much coveted ability to mix vintage with new and designer. Also your vintage finds are fab! I love scanning your blog, great job and thanks!
