YAY my craving for tacky light denim has been fulfilled. I feel so much better now. Today was awesome in 9000 different ways. It's the first official day that I'm working remotely, which means dressing as randomly as I feel like. I might be wearing denim shorts an unusual amount from now on, largely because I think the hardest thing about going to an office every day was not being able to don them. Just warning you.

I know that most, if not all of you, think that I go and get Mystic Tanned bi-daily or something, but I swear to you, I went to a tanning salon once in my life many years ago and am never going back, because it was scary, and it gave me weird splotchy skin that lasted a month. Sick. I actually wear SPF 45 every day, but something about my Japanese/whiteness makes me conducive to darkening as soon as the temperature goes above 70 degrees. I get tan lines from sitting outside and eating lunch for 20 minutes. It's actually very inexplicable, since both of my parents are pretty pale people, buttt my brother's the same way. Maybe we are secretly not their offspring! Who knows.

Tshirt and sunglasses, Urbn. Shorts and boots, vintage. Jewelry, vintage/Forever 21.

Hi,
I love your floral dresses! can you please tell me a way to make it more appropriate for high school?

I don't think light denim is tacky at all! Perfect for those hot summer days. I'm jealous that it's so warm where you are and I still have to pull a wool coat over my outfit some days.

I love how simple this outfit is. I tan really quickly too (my mum is black and my dad is fair and blue eyed) so I get where your coming from with the accusations of false tan/sun-bed abuse!

you look perfect, as always. And don't go to tanning salons ever, those are criminal, there's no legislation on how much UV rays they emit. the only time ever you can do it is if you're being treated for psoriasis at the dermatologist, and even that can only be done about five times in a lifetime since the amount of radiation and mutation you get from it are cumulative. girls listen: you can get cancer! (medical student concerned...)

I tan easily, too. Since the sun peaked its rays on me, I have thing white rings around my wrist from hair ties. =(

P.S. long time reader, first time commenter :)

i thought i was the only person who perpetually tans even if she never intentionally tries to bake herself (i begin to tan from standing outside in a span of 10minutes haha).;P i'm not alone. and i have a chic same being at that! love what you're wearing! i bet it'd be incredible to wear whatever you want for work. *heaven* good luck!

Ahh, same. All my pale friends always complain about how I get a shade darker 5 minutes in the sun. I tell them to switch races. (laughs)

I'll be needing to go get some high-waisted denim shorts now.. :P

God, I wish I tanned as quick as you. I'm pretty much transparent all year long. My parents, on the other hand, are waaay darker than me. Maybe I'm not their offspring, either. Oh, pooh.

You look great. I definitely could not get away with those shorts!

This is really cute! I wouldn't be able to pull of these shorts but they look great on you.

Have you been to h&m recently? They have a fringe bag similar to your suede brown one. But theirs is 'leather' and comes in black and red! They are really cute.

Those boots are so amazing, I just died a little that I don't have them. Although I did snatch a pair of H&M boots on sale that were inspired by your Marc Jacobs ones. Not the real thing, but it's as close as these paws are getting!!

You have great looking legs. So I would humbly suggest wearing a low waist version of those shorts and maybe making them shaggy. Great job on the jewelry. It so goes with your overall look!

I'm Chinese and I tan really fast. I need to start wearing a moisturizer with spf, but my skin is acne prone so that's a problem. :(

there is nothing special about this outfit. one picture would have been enough.

Hi Rumi, ive got a request, was wondering if you could wear your white armani exchange (?) dress again? i loooove the pic (your profile pic) of you in it with the beige boots that i continue to covet! Thanks!

Anonymous said...

This is a miss. The shorts are just tacky and the boots are horrific. Sorry.

Denise said...

i would DIE to be tan like you. im going to the tanning salon once a week because im actually pretty pale. im so looking forward for summer and laying out in the sun.
i really love how you combined the rough boots with shorts and a white tee. good job, as always!

Sara said...

The boots are giving me flashbacks from 12 years ago, when I thought I was the bees knees in patterned leggings, oversized jumper, slouch socks and brown high top boots.

Cute shorts!

hi there, really like the shorts along with the shoes a lot.

Also I featured one of your looks on Dripbook Fashion studio - Midweek street style, have a wee look here:

you make me want to be half-Japanese because I wonder does that come along with your amazing style?

those shorts are hot, but they look awfully uncomfortable. As though they give you a nasty little "ride" in a bad way. no?

Nevertheless, beauty is pain. =] I am guilty of wearing too-tight shorts just for the sake of making a killer fashion statement.
