Low slung belting has been pretty tossed to the roadside since the post-Sienna backlash, but seeing it so gorgeously done on Lulu and Louise inspired me to pull out my best light-as-air billowy vintage dress and give it a go again. Today was the perfect day to do so too, with almost 90 degree temperatures making it finally feel like summer might have officially arrived. This dress is pure love to me, though kind of awkward since it alllllmost looks like a nightgown. As my mother is always eager to point out. I think the belt serves to at least mitigate that effect though. And yup I ordered the Aldo heels in gray last week, I figure curved wooden mirrored heels that are this comfortable should be scooped up in all available colors, especially when on sale. I will note they seem more of a cement/eggshell/completely weird hue but I figure unidentifiable colors are more Marc Jacobs-y anyway.
PS completely made my day when I discovered that Louise reads my blog, I am honored to infinity. I recommend reading Geraldine of Cafe Mode's sweet interview with her immediately. And yes Louise you must start a blog, the fashion world is begging you!
Check out a vintage purple dress like hers that I'm having a rather hard time letting go here.
Dress and belt, vintage. Heels, Aldo.

I could die for your wardrobe! Seriously, where do you find all of theese amazing cloths? And the outfits... gosh! And I wish I could look like you to... Ah well, love you blog! :)
I love this photo spot, the first picture could seriously be from a magazine. You sure are lucky to have such lovely photo spots. I must say I love seeing belts worn like that with billowy dresses. It takes a long while for me to get tired of things lol! I am also extremely envious of your warm weather.. its been raining straight for about 24hrs now with only 12c temps =( Save mee!
Oh very summery Rumi! hey you wudn't happen to know if the "Fleece Blazer" with the gold buttons from Forever21 is nice wud ya? I'm looking at buying in online but i can't tell if its nice or not...
First time commenting here I believe... but just wanted to say I love your blog....!
It's no surprise that Louise is an avid reader too!
This outfit is so cute :-)
amazing amazing amazing dress!
want one like that!
u are so gorgeous!!!
Aw S you are way too sweet!
Aww R! Where in the heck are you living that it's still so rainy? I know I'm spoiled by California weather though.
Hi Sarah, I haven't had the energy to really shop there in person in a while, though I did a quick stop on Friday and ended up waiting for the boy to try things on lol. Could be worth a shot though!
SUSIE I'm so glad to see you here, obviously I love SB, you were part of what inspired me to start my own blog! But no one does it like you, I don't know how you manage to have so many amazing topics to post about all the time! And can I just say your recent Gossip Girl-inspired post was jaw-droppingly well done. But anyways, thank you for your sweet comment :)
Thank you Lina!
OMG, love your outfit!
And the shoes look amazing, to bad Aldo doesn´t ship to Sweden...

i think i mayy have to purchase some similar shoes, i love the big curvyish heels.
wow amazing. i really love this little dress and the belt is gorgeous too. Heels are amazing too. :) Everything is perfect.
I love your blog so much. I promoted on a Finnish fashion mag a few months back, maybe you got some more readers from this side of the pond. Anyway, I have a question.. As a blogger myself, I would like to know what kind of camera do you have? Your picture quality is wonderful and Im thinking of purchasing a new digital camera. Lately I have been using only my 5 megapixel phone camera but I need something better. Many thanks and keep up the good blog! Its lovely and so so so inspirational!
I love all the jewelery you wear. I wish I could do the same...but I have to write along the day and I can't stand anything in my wrists.
wow ! i love your fashion sense!! your blog is amazing.. i get totally inspired by your dresses, shoes, bags.. EVERYTHING!! well done! id kill for your wardrobe ahha i love it xo
god, i love your style! you, your clothes and your outfits are to die for! you give me so much inspiration, thank you!
cette robe est magnifique, j'adore ton style et les mélanges que tu fais avec les vetements.
You definitely give new life to low slung, it actually looks really good and chic on you. Your pictures are looking very summery lately, its wonderful :)
I love this outfit-that white dress is simply stunning. I've just started following your blog and it's truly inspiring!
Stef
That looks like the perfect summers day outfit!
I thought my eyes were deceiving me or something because you have those shoes in black. But upon further reading, my confusion was solved.
And I agree, I think Louise should start her own blog. It'd be a hit!
Ok, so I think we should collectively bring back the good 'ol days. When Sienna was sooooo goood.
Second, I love Louise! She was always a standout on Facehunter/ Sart.
Third, I really like the belt you paired this with.
Oh, I wish we could have second hand shops in Norway like you have in America! All you can find in the second hand shops here are ugly grandma clothes..
Anyways, you loke gorgeous as always! <3
i am officially in love with those shoes!
and this is why I will not give up my search for a summery white dress :-)
i love the low-slung belt! you look great. :)
It's absolutely no surprise that Louise reads your blog, I'm tickled to death by the idea of one of my style crushes being the fan of another (even though I de-lurked only very recently).
And, as always, you look fantastic- I really do want to pinch those shoes of yours..
rumi, i love the belt around a billowy white top, you look great.
also you hair is long, i like it

Wow the dress looks really good at you....and look at those heels....they are fantastic!
This outfit is so wow super cute! summer is the best time ever lol ;-)
Such a great "boho-chic" look! Great belt.
It does resemble a nightgown, but I can only imagine how comfortable it is. :] It's a win-win.
I think this looks lovely on you.
when i saw those were on sale, i immediately thought you would end up with them! haha. you put this together beautifully. i love the night gown-y dress. the shoes are defin. fab, i think i might like them more than the black. oh, and p.s. your weekend posts were hilarious and yet gorg at the same time!
very boho, nice! btw, I like your Nine West mirrored shoes better without the socks ;)
I disagree with your mom and think that because of the rouching of the sleeves, this looks like a summery tunic, and not a nightgown! I love how you piled on the bracelets that complement the shoes nicely as well.
AHH, you always look so beautiful when you take photos with all the plants and sunlight!
I like where you placed the belt, it really does complete the outfit!
And poop you! You and your near 90 degree summer weather! :(
I read that interview with Louise, and when I saw she read Fashion Toast, I cheered aloud for you! You are an inspiration across oceans and cultures :)
What is the heel height on those Aldos? I think you might have said it was 5" before (??), but I can't remember for sure. And the website is only saying 2.5"+. Pfft. Very helpful, Aldo. Anyway, I had been thinking that the black was stunning on you, but OH GOD I LOVE SHADES OF GREY! Anyway, I also meant to congratulate you on the Teen Vogue blog feature from awhile back. You deserve it...because you rock!
by the sheer force of seeing you wear these shoes repeatedly i'm starting to want these shoes. :)
I admire your stile! Really. I get fascinated everytime i visit you blog and look at your photos.
Keep it up girl!
/Kim from Sweden
Very cool look!!!!Roberto Cavalli s-s 08 inspiration. Relax style. Hippie chic! Love it!
My eye deceive in me o ris there a decolletage in the back of the dress? and also if not, she is amazing! I liked the belt .
the proportions to this are so goooood!
Hey anonymous that just got ordered the Aldo heels where did you find the 15% code? I am ordering these A.S.A.P. and my decision whether or not to order them in grey also hangs on finding a discount code. And Rumi, you seriously just made my day, no joke, I woke this morning thinking "you know what I love those shoes I saw on fashion toast and I'm going to order them today even though I have overspent for the week already", then I look on here first and see that they are on sale! Oh yeah and I agree being unable to identify the exact color of something is very Marc Jacobs-y.
i'm so jealous. you look sexy, beautiful, intelligent, and skinny always.. all the time! i think you can put on a trash bag, and people will all want to copy you. i love that dress.
the light dress with the belt is SUPER cute! You make me want to go shopping soo badly! Today my outfit was Rumi inspired with my Hanes tee tucked in brown shorts and t-strap shoes that remind me of you!!! Thanks for your wonderful sense of fashion.
I loved the blog, but it takes too much time to load the pictures.
I like the outfit. Has such a spring feeling to it. Love the shoes
beautiful as always
yes i saw aldo were having a sale but i really want the white laceup ones you wore with the luella inspired skirt from f21...by the way i'd love to see how you wear those in 'real life' as you said, also whatever happened to that button down skirt you got? i see the ones you wanted are back online in topshop. Also.........see this:

the exposed zip made me think of you...quick thyre still in stock! :)
i've always adored low slug belts...I just think they're so flattering, ya know? In other news...I truly do love this vintage dress of yours. And I don't think it looks like a nightgown at all! :)
Rumi i cant wait to see how you wear your doc martens too :)

I couldn't agree with you more about the low-slung belts. I actually wore a VERY similar outfit today!
I wore a dress but much simpler with a low-slung thin braided belt with wooden platform michael kors shoes.
i love the low-slung belt look, I don't think it looks frumpy at all. So casual!
i love the belt with this dress plus the background. it really is like a magazine spread.
i did see the aldo shoes go on sale. rumi, you've started my aldo shoe addiction. yes, when shoes are that fabulous and comfortable and on sale to boot, i must scoop them up too. seriously, in my closet, i have at least 6 shoe styles where this is the case.
and as everyone has said it really is no surprise that louise reads your blog. fashiontoast is fantastic.
eeks... i meant to say i have several instances of more than one pair of my fav shoes in different colors.
Oh congrats on getting the gray aldos, they look great.
i. hate. those. shoes.
you should go brunette. it would look so much more gorgeous on you!
i'm not sure if it is possible for you to look bad! i especially love your last few posts!
was wondering where did you buy your balenciaga motorcycle bags? in a store or online???
Thank you everyone :)
Fluxor, I use a Sony DSC-W55, it was actually really cheap..my boyfriend and I are looking into purchasing a better one soon.
Aww Allure, maybe you can compromise with a little necklace overload?
Hahah Lu I still long for her to get her fashion game back..sigh.
Aww Blue Floppy Hat thank you for de-lurking, I love your blog and your writing!
Haha Poetic Fashion I'm so predictable! I think I still like the black more but I'm loving having both pairs! So self-indulgent I am hehe.
Dreamecho, aww you are too sweet, thank you on both accounts! Heh and I just measured the Aldos. 5 inches. I didn't even think they were that high but well I guess they are. Kinda crazy, but I swear they don't feel it when they're on.
Tavi, okay I think you are amazing. Hopefully it'll be warmer where you are too soon!
michalooshla (wow!) yup there's a deep v in the back too...love love this dress!
Kirsten, I think the discount is when you register with Aldo? Hahha and glad I was able to make your day :)
Abisola aww yeah I have to break those white ones out again soon! That Topshop skirt is indeed cute, I'm going to try to restrain myself from putting in a huge order there!
Catpower soon soon..very soon actually.
Anon 7:40, they're either from Aloha Rag (awesome boutique in Honolulu) or from the Bal store in NYC.
Here's Louise's MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/dontblushwheniripyouopen. Just in case you didn't have it.
lovely dress!
i love the combo of flowy dress and waist belt. other than you have on too many bracelets for my taste, I love it!
they went down to $46 today (the aldos) so I just had to get them in this color as well, I think blogging makes me spend even more money.... wow, but it's definitely worth it. we live once, right? =)
Do I get the shoes in grey or black?
I need to make a decision!
ARGHHHHHHHH!!
