That parka

After reading about dreamecho's quest to re-invent her trusty parka, I was inspired to dig mine out of the downstairs closet (ie. land of forgotten clothing items) and play around with it. I've always liked offsetting it with lace or ridiculous heels, takes the North Face out of it just enough.

Parka, Old Navy (from last fall). Dress, American Apparel. Heels, Nine West. Bracelets, vintage.

love that parka! Why does it have to be from last year? On the other hand, could be a good thing b/c I spend an ungodly amount of my paycheck on clothes and shoes but then again it's old navy! Oh wells, love your site!

very cutee, i have to say though we have very different definitions of a parka haha, id consider that more like a light spring jacket, if i tryed to wear that as a winter parka well.. id probably be frozen in some snow somewhere haha

you are one of the very few people who can wear short skirts/dresses and not look trashy. you make it look very chic.

This is not a parka. It does not have fur trim and is not a winter weight. It looks nothing like anything from The North Face either.

Lol, well agreed it's not a heavy winter coat or anything, but I am employing dictionary.com's third definition (any coat or jacket with a hood, as a hooded raincoat or windbreaker), sorry if this perturbs you.

Thank you everyone who commented! I was originally looking for a similar coat in military green but the search was fruitless so I was happy to find this one on in some dingy clerance corner of Old Navy. The dress is from American Apparel, the much touted double u-neck dress, such a wardrobe staple!

The parka discussion interested me, so I looked it up as well. True the third definition does say that, I just think most people refer to a Parka as one of the first two definitions, also if you look one up the first that comes to picture are big furry jackets.

I don't think it is a parka, only parka-esque. But take her definition's with a grain of salt. She is, after all, in southern California, where a "jacket" or "coat" can be tissue-thin.
