The oxford sandal trickledown

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I will readily admit that when I flipped to this photo of Kelly Wearstler (enviable chic thing and darling of any interior decorating publication), my heart started fluttering. Those magnificent and only slightly confusing heels! So much more palatable than the fear-inducing peep toe boots so many intrepid celebrities tried out this past fall. I must be late in the game on this one, because apparently all the mall brands have fashioned their own versions of this hybrid. Blissfully convenient for the 99% of the population that can't spring for the original Louboutins. Though I'm also thinking that a similarly large percentage will find them recoil-worthy. I would definitely have to try them on in real life to determine their necessity to include in my already bursting-at-the-seams shoe collection. What does everyone think, would you wear these?

Truthfully, I would only wear the original ones; the others look a bit too "fake." I would also like to mention how much I adore that mirrored skirt. I need it.

I definitely like them as slingbacks rather than just peep toes, without the slingback it just looks like the toe is missing.

i already caved...remarkably versatile! good with skinny jeans and skirt or dresses. I whole-heartedly recommend! xx

I would definitely wear a pair similar to the photo...just the toe missing looks oddly proportioned and silly. the soft color/texture and the cut-outs of the original are much more sigh inducing...

I love the ones the model is sporting. However, I'm not so sure that I'd be willing to wear them. They're not exactly something I can see myself pulling off.

I'm about to buy the yellow ones. Of course, I would love to have the Louboutins, but the yellow is a unique touch, and paired with the right leggings/tights and dress, they will be fantastic. :)

I like the idea of an oxford-sandal or a clog-sandal. I still like the clog-sandals I found:

wowowow. They seem more wearable to me for the summer . does that mean i'm more boring? perhaps. i know they're not the same thing, but they're hybrids.

love the blog. and tell us about the fashion opp when your lips are no longer sealed.

Those yellow sling backs from Nine West are calling me!

I agree with the majority - The yellow ones are awesome

I like the yellow ones and that brown cloggey thing someone posted. Who knew hybrid shoes could be so great?????

I love these!! I've been looking at a similar pair for a while now! Perfect for summer!!

i REALLY like them! i lost the closed heel better though, the open heel looks a little strange. i like allllllll of them, and i think they look best in a black leather. the yellow ones look tennis-shoe like.

BTW, i just wanna tell you (the girl who runs the site) that you are soooo cute!!! i live in orange county and frequent some shopping places in LA occasionally, an if i ever see you for real i'm going to freak out cuz your just too cute. :)

tough call: I have to pick the steve madden ones. The yellow look a little cheap online, but perhaps they are nicer in person. I also like the Rachel Comey ackee heels that someone posted. I have been waiting for those to arrive. SO great. But I don't think they really are the same as the other shoes listed.

I'd wear them in a flash if I could. 6'2 height doesn't lend itself to heel wearing easily.

I think I would, specially the yellow one from Nine west. They are lovely!

We're supposed to believe she works in that outfit?
I like the yellow best-the others look kind of cheap...

I don't really prefer slingbacks, but those Steve Maddens are gorgeus! And they aren't even that expensive. I really feel like wanting them...

bronwyn said...

I think they're great. I'm not so crazy about the yellow colour but I like the style.

steve maddens just look like oxford booties with the toes chopped off. and black/white ones are too contrasting, don't like it. but love love love the yellow ones, because of the fact that they're slingbacks. I'm definitely gonna go check 'em out.

Thanks for all the input!! So I'm thinking the yellow ones won the most hearts?

Lol Iron Chic, well I guess working to her also means posing for a fashion photographer surrounded by inordinate amounts of oversized (paper?) scrolls.

Stephanie definitely say hi if you see me!

Wow the Delia's are actually really cute! I would totally wear those! And Joran I have to say I was a little wary when I saw the word "clog" but those are amazing. Nice hybrid find :)

I was flipping through the new Teen Vogue last night and there is an ADORABLE pair (slingback/open toe) in it, towards the very end where they just feature a bunch of random items per page. They're by Zinc and I can't find them online but I'll try to find the time to scan!

I love the BEBE and the Steve Madden. I would buy the BEBE pair.

The BEBE pair is lovely.

I like the yellow pair, the delia's are cute but not quite 'oxfordy' enough, not so sure about the 'clogs'
Ive already bought myself a black patent pair and i know they are a down-to-almost-every-last-detail-gucciesque but i honestly couldn't resist! First outfit: high waisted stone wash denim pencil skirt and a blacknwhite tee with tights :D

YELLOW ONES!

I actually think that the Bebe ones are the only ones worth buying. the steve maddens look like your plain old oxfords, but only with the peeptoe, which takes all the fun out of the whole sandal concept, and the nine west ones have a strange heel height. I always think that if you opt for heels - go all or nothing.

I love the yellow nine west and the "clogs" by Rachel Comey. Both are really great shoes, but I tend to like Rachel Comey's aesthetic usually. Great finds girls!

so I worked on this A Fashionable Life photoshoot for Bazaar, love KW! she is so chic but love these ones on shopbop by derek lam...only 8.5 left
(so sad i'm so petite) but the sale is fabulous!

I dunno... I think that the 9West ones look cheap, because the laces are the same color and totally uninteresting. I was thinking of getting them and replacing the laces with ribbon -- black? But... I tried them on and the leather is too soft to stand up to their structured style.

I would totally steal the bebe ones. just kiddin' ;p
